SUBJECT: WHAT I DID IN
HOLLAND
Hi everybody,
Last Saturday I went to a great End-Of-Holiday-Event in Groesbeek with
workshops from Ivonne Verhagen en Ria Vos. Both talented ànd charming
choreographers and they taught a nice mix of new country and non-country dances.
Workshops were in the afternoon and, after a short dinner break, was followed by
a nice and lively social. We also enjoyed a great performance by Ivonne & Co
in which they showed us they still belong to the top of our dancers!
For me it was my first dance-experience after a fortnight stop. A nasty
cold caught me and I’m still recovering and couldn’t make it to the end :- ( .
Weather is terrible last week and it feels like autumn. I’m really looking
forward to our Turkey-trip in October were we will join Kate & Dee
having a great dance-week and hopefully getting lots of sunshine!
Next week most classes will start after the holiday break and I wonder
which new dances will be picked out to be taught. So many nice dances and only a
few you can learn! Francien Sittrop wrote some new dances too and she is
going to start a new dance group next week. Whish her great luck with
everything!
New dances:
NEXT TO ME by Francien Sittrop to music Next To Me by Ilse DeLange. We hear
the music all day on the radio and it’s a great song. Nice Improver dance to it,
32cts./2W.
PLAN B by Kate Sala & Rob Fowler to music She Said by Plan B.
64cts/4W/Int. Me too had to get used to the music but as the dance flows so well
the music follows quickly.
BABY GET UP by Ria Vos to music Baby Get Up And Dance by Andreea Balan.
64cts./4W/Int. Great music and dance with only one restart and a funny
tag! Loved it.
GET YOUR KICKS by Ivonne Verhagen to music Route 66 by Matchbox. 48
cts./2W/Novice. Music we all know and Ivonne wrote a nice dance to it. Steps
aren’t difficult but it’s going pretty fast,
I CAN BE A BITCH by Jo & I to music I Can Be A Bitch by Elize
32cts/4W/Int. Nice dance with “bitchy”moves in the first tag. Because of the
changing music there is quit a large tag after wall 4.
BOSSA NOVA TWIST by Ria Vos. 48cts/4W/Improver. Dance flows great and is
written great to the music and I loved the swivel turn-section as well as the
last two sections!
Recapped:
MAKE YOU SWEAT by Ria Vos Learned this one at three different places!
EVERYTHING I DO by Rachel McEnaney
Both very popular dances.
Danced:
It’s All About You, Out & Jump, Faith & Desire, In Love, Buleria,
Fiësta, Release Me, Sugar Candy, Roomba, Mexicali, Broken Heels, Quarter After
One, Gave It All Away, For Someone Special, Time To Play, Take Me Shake Me, What
They Say, Waka Waka, Yolanda, Tennessee Waltz Surprise (on different Dutch-music
LOL) Rhyme Or Reason, Under The Sun, Martini Moments, San Francisco, Hands Up,
Some Kind Of Wonderful, Louisiana Swing, Moonlight Madness, Ay Amor, Holding On
To Yesterday, Go Mama Go, Galway Girls, Amame, and lots more yesterday-evening.
All the new dances came along and because it was a kind of marathon-dancing
we had also time to do a great bunch of older dances like Headphones, Picnic
Polka, The Way, Crazy Foot Mambo, Don’t Feel Like Dancing, Remember When, Heart
Of An Angel, Poetry In Motion, Life Without You……
Too many to mention all but it’s nice to know that some of the older dances
(after a wall or two) are still in the brains&feet!
XXX’s & OOO’s
Yvonne
(an enthusiastic line dancer, dancing at several locations in Holland,
liking to let you know what’s going on here and share my personal
dance-experiences with you (if possible in the
Monday-newsletter)

Subject: BLUES FESTIVAL to feature the SBS (Shuffle Boogie
Soul) Line Dance
From : Ira Weisburd (Boca Raton, Florida)
This is one story I had to share with everyone. I still can’t believe
it’s happening. After uploading my dance “SBS” on Youtube only 3 days ago,
I received two phone calls yesterday. The first was from Preston Shannon
who sings the song I wrote the dance to. He called to tell me how excited
he was to see a line dance to his song “HONKY TONK”. He is a legendary
guitarist and blues singer hailed as the reigning “King of Beale Street”.
He has a compelling and soulful voice that’s a cross between Otis Redding and
Bobby Womack. Imagine how humbling it was to receive a call from the man
himself.
As soon as I hung up with Preston, I get another phone call from Pastor
T. He is the producer, promoter and man behind the “TREASURE COAST BLUES
FESTIVAL” in Port St. Lucie, Florida. He told me that he had come across
the line dance video on Youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1O8Fqd5ax4
and wanted me to know that Preston Shannon was one of the main headliner’s to
perform at the festival. Then he proceeded to tell me that he would like
to feature the dance at the festival by inviting line dancers all over the world
to do something like a “FLASH MOB” scene with hundreds or even thousands of line
dancers doing the dance simultaneously while Preston Shannon sings his song on
stage. They even talked about the possibility doing a satellite video
simulcast at other Line Dance Events around the world. This will take
place in November this year. I will keep everyone posted as to the exact
date and time.

SUBJECT: McDONOUGH
GA:"Dancers with Heart Line Dance Workshop"
Saturday -
September 11, 2010
(McDonough is roughly 25 miles from I-75 and I-285 on the
south side of Atlanta)
Wyatt Earp, a regular at the McDonough line dances and also at Wild Bill's
/ Cowboys etc recently suffered several heart attacks that ended with heart
bypass surgery which added up to some astronomical medical expenses.
Knowing what big hearts the line dance family has and knowing that we love to
dance, what better way could we show our love and support than to have a
"benefit line dance workshop".
Anyone wanting to attend the workshop can register and pay $20 at the door
or through any of the instructors to register and pay. The doors at the
Moose Lodge will open at 9:30 AM and the first lesson will start at 10:00 AM. We
will have two instructional dance floors! The main ballroom and the dance floor
in the social quarters. The workshop is designed for both the beginner and
intermediate dancer with dances being taught at the same time.
Cost is only $20 for the workshop which runs from 10 AM to 5 PM with a
lunch break. THEN, to help you make a full day of dancing, the regular
monthly Moose Lodge Line Dance will be that night!! We are
scheduling a dinner break from 5 PM to 8 PM and there are plenty of places to
eat in the McDonough area. (Some are talking about a "field trip" a few miles
down I-75 to Buckner's)
Since the benefit and the monthly dance are two different cost centers, the
regular $5 admission for the night dance is not included in the $20 for the
benefit. We will be collected at the door for the evening dance like
always.
This is a great deal for a full day of dance for a total of $25....
Take a look at all the "hometown" instructors listed, and you will see this is a
wonderful full day of dance opportunity for a very reasonable expenditure.
I am looking forward to a great day of dancing and camaraderie with our
line dance family and friends. With the monthly line dance at the Moose
being the same date, we can continue into the night dancing the new dances
learned as well as lots of old ones too!. The dance area is SMOKE
FREE. PLEASE pass this information to all dancers you know.

REMEMBER... $20.00 workshop fee does NOT include the $5 cost of the evening
Moose Lodge Dance.
Please pay any of the instructors listed above.
The Moose Lodge will
have food available to purchase during the workshop.
The Henry County Moose Lodge is located just off Georgia 155, west of I-75.
For those wanting to look it up on Map Quest or Google Map or put it in your
GPS, the technical address is:
91 Hunter Chase
McDonough, Georgia
30253
Take either I-675 or I-75 south of I-285 to the 5th exit below where 675
and 75 merge. The Exit on I-75 is 216 which is Georgia Route 155.
This is the southern of the McDonough exits. At the bottom of the ramp, turn
right toward Griffin, (Ga-155 south). There will be a Quality
(formerly Holiday) Inn on your right as you come off I-75.
Follow Ga-155 for about a mile and turn RIGHT into the entrance to the
"Hunters' Run" subdivision on your right. You MUST turn into the subdivision
entrance street to get to the driveway for the Moose Lodge. The Lodge drive does
not connect directly to Ga-155.
Once inside, follow the hall around to the right to the rear of the
building for their ballroom. It is a polished concrete floor which is much
better than tile, but does not dance like a wood one. Wear shoes
accordingly. We will have foot tubes for sale that day!! Come on down and
give it a shot...
If you are coming from the Loganville - Lawrenceville or Grayson area, Get
on Georgia 20 going south and follow this through Conyers, Magnet, and into
McDonough. Once in McDonough where Ga-20 goes right,(toward the square)
you keep going straight so watch the signs and stay on Ga-155 south. This
will circle around and once you go under I-75, you will see the Quality Inn on
your right and the directions above will
apply.
