Subject: Saturday, May 22 dance at the Pinellas Park
Schoolhouse
(St. Petersburg, Florida area)
From: Barbara (
fletch...@yahoo.com)
This
Saturday is Bill Beckett's annual party, where we will dance from 10 am to 2 pm.
Bill will play a rotation of music, to provide dancing fun for Beginners, Easy
Intermediate and Intermediate. This is not a workshop, where each dance is
thoroughly taught, however there will be one or two wall walk-thrus as a
refresher, for those who know the dance. A few new dances will be "taught" by
teachers attending.
This is always a fun time to get together and not only
dance, but meet with friends from other classes. Bring your own snacks (or
lunch) and snd drinks (no alchohol). Bottled water will be available for
sale.
The Pinellas Park Schoolhouse Auditorium, has a wonderful wood floor
for dancing and is easy to reach from all directions.
Y'all come! The ticket
fee it ONE DOLLAR.

Subject: Dance For The Cure in Calgary
From:
dnu...@telusplanet.net
Saturday May 15 was the first ” Dance for the Cure” event held in Calgary.
Organized by Ann Nuell and held at Ranchman’s on Macleod Trail, six
instructors took part along with 100 dancers and a few good spectators. Pledge
forms for the Canadian Cancer Society, a small silent auction and money raised
at the door provided nearly $5600.00 towards the fight against cancer.
Marie McLeod, Mary Rochfort, Sue Hall, Carolyn Yurek and Lauren McLean all
lead dances along with Ann Nuell and with the support of dancers from their
classes this was an exciting and rewarding first attempt.
Thanks to all who attended and supported this endeavour.

ABOUT NELOL: The Northeast Ladies of Line For Arthritis (NELOL4AF) is an
annual benefit event. It was founded in 2004 and sanctioned by The
Arthritis Foundation MA Chapter in 2006.
IT IS a dual purpose event.
First, it exist to raise much needed research dollars for treatment of the
many forms of Arthritis that plague over 77 million Americans - of which over
300,000 are children. Also, monies raised help fund free educational
programs and materials - lots of educational materials on treatment/ pain
management and research on the various forms of Arthritis - will be available at
NELOL. For all about the Arthritis Foundation, please go to
www.arthritis.org. Secondly, NELOL4AF
exists to promote, acknowledge and recognize those ladies behind the scenes who
tirelessly promote line dance in their communities - the ladies who hold weekly
classes, organize dance events and who encourage their dancers to travel to all
the Line Dance Events - "the soldiers" as they are known to NELOL4AF. Each year
12 Ladies/"Soldiers" are invited to share their love of dancers from all over
the Northeast and to meet their fellow Ladies of Line.
Note: If you teach
anywhere in Northeastern US including New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and would
like to be listed with The Northeast Ladies of Line for Arthritis, please
contact Forty at
forty....@gmail.com. To be
listed with NELOL, you must currently be running/teaching a WEEKLY line dance
program in your community and have been teaching line dance for at least 1 year
(as of 12/31/09).
The Arthritis Foundation, MA Chapter and FOTAF are forever
grateful for the overwhelming support it has received from the line dance
community. We thank the Ladies whom have given their time and efforts and the
Event Directors, NELOL’s, Vendors and Dancers for their generous gifts and
support over the years. We could not have done it without you. Thank
you for sharing your blessings.

NEW Country Waltz to debut at JG Marathon
FROM: Steve
Lescarbeau
Hey everyone! Can't
believe that the JG Marathon is just over a week away! I will be teaching
two classes this year. One of them will be "3", a fast paced 32 count
Intermediate dance with one 4 count tag done to Britney Spears, "3". In my
other class I'm very excited to show my new dance, "Don't Let Go" It's a
phrased 48 count - 4 wall Intermediate to High Intermediate Waltz to yet another
beautiful Lady Antebellum song; "Can't Take My Eyes Off You". This dance
has 3 restarts and 1 - 18 count bridge, with a few different steps.
Looking forward to dancing with everyone soon. Hope
to see you in one of my classes, at the Carol's cookie party, by the pool, at
the bar, etc. But I will see you at checkin. Safe
travels.

SUBJECT: Barrie, Ontario Canada Workshop
FROM:
Joanne Brady joeb...@hotmail.com First, a
very heartfelt Thank You to all my Canadian Dancing Friends. And another
to my American Dancing Friends (The Buffalo Group & Sue & Maureen from
Valley Forge, PA) who drove to Barrie, Ontario to spend the weekend with John
Robinson and Me! The Canadians always welcome me with open arms and remind
me what partying is all about.
Shirley Robinson was our
event director and as usual, everything went off perfectly, without a
hitch! And her 'other half', Larry, was there to do just about anything we
asked for, including trying to find me UNSWEETED ICED TEA......not happening in
Canada; well except for the Toronto Airport on my way home.
(smile)
This was her 2nd reunion workshop. In 2007 Shirley
did a 10 year reunion and it went so well with wonderful reviews that she did
ANOTHER reunion workshop this year.
Lynn Warden was our DJ for the weekend
starting with a 4 hour dance on Friday night. On Saturday the workshop
doors opened around 9:15 am and closed just about 1:00 am.
It was a FUN day, to say the least, because John is always full of so much
energy.....and unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) I feed off of that!
It was also flattering to John, Shirley and me to have 13 Canadian
instructors and 2 or 3 American instructors attend the workshop. Several
of them said they got lots of material to use and I picked up 5 new dances from
them while open dancing both nights.
What a huge surprise when I
looked up and saw Croc and Hope come through the door! WOW, the memories
we share......and not 10 minutes later, in come that Sudbury goup. Just
about the time I finished hugging them in comes Dan Morrison and on and on; it
was a thrill for me personally to see all of them again. Along with our
Wasaga Beach team with Val and 1/2 of the Double Trouble Team! I
don't want to take up another paragraph so I'll stop here!!! We have all
worked and danced together for nearly 17 years and spent some time sharing lots
of memories.....some I had hoped never to be reminded of again (thank you Dan
& Val). But thanks to each of you who supported the
workshop.

Well – I can’t wipe the smile off my face, attended a workshop in Barrie,
ON, CANADA with Joanne Brady and John Robinson on May 15th. Thrill of a
lifetime for a linedancer – dancing Dangerous with Mr. Showcase himself.
These 2 together are wonderfully full of energy, laughter, wit, if you haven’t
already checked out Joanne’s “What’s on the Menu” and John’s “So Sexxy” – you
should. John’s sidekick Chris – also a great addition to their
“show”. Shirley Robinson, you did an awesome job of organizing this, I
thoroughly enjoyed the whole day (too bad I could only make it for the day) but
Thank You. I hope that more workshops like this can be arranged.
