I'm looking for some help with Google Analytics for 2 WP sites. Any willing hands out there?

Thanks,
Sherry

Hi Sherry,

Try clicky.com and you probably won't need any help (as far as setting up reports, etc. are concerned). :)

Otherwise, GA is certainly very popular; free; and arguably better in some ways-- depending on your needs.

Anyway, if you can be more specific, I'm sure you'll find a lot of help here.

Tommy

Thanks Tommy. It's not the setup, I'm OK with that on numerous sites. What's happening is that 2 closely related sites are reporting the same stats. I need to figure out why and fix it. Any ideas folks?

Thanks,
Sherry

Have you checked the tracking code? I wonder if you're using the same one for both sites?

Can you forward links to the sites Sherry?  Easy enough to check the code if we can take a look.  Agree with Tommy, that's the most likely cause.

Hi Sherry,

The obvious first step would be to make sure the profile settings for each site are completely unique and that each site has the correct GA tracking code in your header.php file or, if you're using a GA plugin, has the correct account ID in the plugin settings.

Thanks for the ideas but its not the tracking code. The 2 sites are circlecranch.com and swaustinneighborhoods.com. All ideas welcome.

Thanks

It is :)

http://circlecranch.com/ has a mistake in that the code appears twice: UA-32521843-1

swaustinneighborhoods.com also has the code in there twice but in this case, one is UA-39819789-1 while the other is UA-32521843-1
And there's your duplicate

Suspect someone put the codes in the footer manually and then you also have a Google Analytics plugin adding the code a second time. On the Neighborhoods site, in one of those cases, the Circle C UA code was used.

In Google Analytics, the duplication of data should be on the profiles using UA-32521843-1
You should be able to look at UA-39819789-1 and see a distinct dataset, unique to swaustinneighborhoods.com

Sherry, both sites have the same GA ID (32521843). It looks like you're using two different GA plugins on the swaustinneighborhoods.com site. The Google Analyticator plugin (?) is listed after Yoast and has the same GA ID as the circlecranch.com site, hence the duplicate reporting.

Paul and Art, thanks for the info. I found the problem. It was in the Google Analytics Dashboard plugin, it was set to the wrong profile.

Ok, it's all good now. Thanks for the help thinking it through and correcting the duplication issue. Sometimes you just need fresh eyes on a challenge to get it resolved.
