Hey, Sarit!
When I saw the announcements about a WordCamp in Israel, I just KNEW you had to be behind it. Somewhere. Or in front of it.
I've been trying, but not too hard yet, to get invited as a speaker to a conference in Israel so I can come back to visit all my old friends, nosh on goodies from the Shuk, hug some shopkeepers I miss, and argue with a few cab drivers. So I'm not being subtle when I say that I'd love to find an excuse to come back for a visit and turn it into some work.
If the WordCamp Israel is open to English speaking presenters (my Hebrew is not even close to good enough, though I can add a few flippant words every once in a while), I'd love to be invited.
WordCamp covered air fare and hotel for the speakers, and I have plenty of places to stay (argh, who to turn down?). If there is any way I could be a part of it, and it fits into my schedule, I'd love to put on a show.
Did you see the amazing video John P did of my presentation in San Francisco? I still haven't seen it. I was SO over the top (in my head) as I was battling the after lunch timing (the worst time to speak), another meeting at the same time (I imagined everyone getting up and walking out during my talk), and the fact that none of my books arrived, all bought and paid for by a sponsor to give to everyone attending. ARGH! According to those at the program and who have seen the video, I was only a little over the top. Good.
I've taught a lot of programs and workshops in Israel while I was living there for five years, and I'm sure I can stir up a few of those folks to attend without much problem, though I don't think you'll have a problem finding an audience. Finding a large enough place to accommodate them might be a bigger issue. If you don't have any ideas on that, I might have a few for you from all the programs I did.
And if it helps, tables and chairs will work better than theatre style for the WordCamp event. That was a huge mistake in San Francisco, two years in a row. Too many people want to live blog and bring their equipment for video, recording, and taking notes.
And maybe we can work to get a sponsor to give my book away to attendees...one way or another.

Airfares: I just put in some dates about when would work for me, give or take a few, just as a test.
Departure: Portland (PDX) to Tel Aviv (TLV) Thu, Oct 04 Return: Tel Aviv (TLV) to Portland (PDX) Tue, Oct 23
lowestravel.com (a favorite of mine for international flights): $1196.24 + tax and up kayak.com (a favorite for domestic flights): $1458 +tax and up
I might be able to get it lower, if I do some dancing around with specials, but not much cheaper than about $1,000 USD from the west coast. If I were on the east, it would be a couple hundred less.
