Ya Jeff,

... you sure learn a lot about your knees in those first few firings. I wish I had known about roofers knee pads way back when. Now I just wish I had remembered I got a set from my U.P. girlfriend before she died. Since I still haven't gotten the idea of crawling into the chamber like the Orientals out of my head with my latest kiln design these fancy knee pads are coming in handy while I practice shelf settings. Sometimes I just leave them on all day when working around the kiln.

One thing about the design now is where I stand when I stoke the pignose, the Bourry box, and secondary stoke holes. Now I'll be able to stoke with vary little bending the knees. In fact, when it is fueled up I should be able to walk away for a while and let it fire unattended and not have to stoke constantly until possibly the last 6-10 hours at the end of a three day firing. That's the plan anyway, we'll see what happens if I can get enough shelves to set a load first. Looks like I could use a dozen 12"x24"x5/8" silicon carbides. Not an easy investment on unemployment.

Doesn't look like folks are hanging out here much, I almost forgot all about WoodKiln, so good luck and stay in there eh!
