This is from a DAR application, where some Womack was involved,
"Alexander Thompson (1739-1815) was a refugee to Georgia where he
served
as a soldier at the battle of King's Mountain."
This was repeated in 3 or 4 applications - As I remember, Kings
Mountain was in SC,
near the NC border. In fact, Bing and Wikiepedia so state.
Just another reason not to trust DAR data...Another was when someone
had
Major Jakes wife as Mary Wills [my 4th great grannie].
