Ok, here we go... I'll try to make it as simple as possible. I'm
looking for relatives/people working on the same family line as me. I
would really like to find someone with more information about these
people (what they did, looked like, pictures, etc.). I have my line
going back pretty far, but some of it still needs to be confirmed.
Starting with the earliest known ancestor (leaving out my parents,
seeing as most people won't be able to see them on the Census etc).
I'm also leaving out the wives for simplicity's sake, but I do have
most of those as well and can provide them if anyone has questions
etc.

1) Walter Lee Wammack, Jr - born 1930 in MS (still living)

2) Walter Lee 'Blackberry' Wammack, Sr - (March 18, 1904 - Jan 1973)
born and died in MS

3) Henry Madison Wammack - (March 4, 1875 - Aug 12, 1946) born and
died in MS

4) William Calvin Wammack - (March 4, 1841 - Feb 23, 1917) born in TN,
died in MS

5) David Wammack/Womack - (1815 - Nov 1874) born in NC, died in MS
[born as a Womack, switched to Wammack at some point in his life]

6) Carter Womack - (1760 - Oct 1822) born in VA, died in NC

7) Thomas Womack - (1730 - 1795) born and died in VA

8) William Womack - (1700 - 1778) born and died in VA

9) John Womack, Sr - (1653 - 1725) born and died in VA

10) William B Womack - (1607 - 1697) born in England

11) Charles Augustus Womack - (1575 - 1610) born and died in England

12) Lawrence Womack - (1550 - 1642) born and died in England

13) Arthur Womack/Womock (1528 - 1607) born and died in England

Thanks to any and all who reply, feel free to e-mail me about this as
well! If you have corrections with sources feel free to send those as
well, I have absolutely no problem being corrected!

Anya,

The only person I know personally who is a descendant of Carter Womack
and Catherine is a descendant of your David's brother Jordan Womack
and his wife, Elizabeth Lane through their son, Jordan Henry Womack
who married Mary Elizabeth Crenshaw 26 Oct 1858 Tippah Co., MS.
Jordan Henry was born 24 Dec 1832 Halifax Co., NC and died 7 Apr 1892
near Booneville, Logan Co., AR. Jordan Henry and Mary Elizabeth might
be buried in Cauthron Cemetery between Booneville and Magazine in
Logan Co., AR. Jordan Henry and Mary Elizabeth's daughter, Martha
Jane "Mattie" Womack Poole died in OK, and according to her obit, she
was buried in Cauthron Cemetery. Jordan Henry and Mary Elizabeth's
granddaughter, Martha Elizaabeth "Lizzie" Womack married Oscar Leo
Cauthron. According to the Cauthron researchers, this line goes back
to Charles Cauthorn and Elizabeth Womack. Apparently over the years
the surname was changed from Cauthorn to Cauthron. I think this
descendant is a member of this web page and perhaps Royce can provide
more information.

Do you know David wife, Adeline's maiden name?

Robert could possibly discuss your ancestors #s 11, 12 and 13 with
you.

Beth,

Perhaps the person that you're speaking of that was David's brother
will see this and respond. Do you know his/her e-mail though?

Unfortunately, no I can't say I do know Adeline's maiden name... I've
yet to find anyone who does either. =(

I would like to speak with Robert about 11, 12 and 13 and possibly who
14 was (I have 2 conflicting set of parents that could be 14) so maybe
he can clear up which one is the real family.

Thanks for your response!

Anya,

Robert's been very busy at work, but I'm sure he'll be able to talk
with you soon.

It is my understanding there is no proof of William's ancestors:

10) William B Womack - (1607 - 1697) born in England

11) Charles Augustus Womack - (1575 - 1610) born and died in England
12) Lawrence Womack - (1550 - 1642) born and died in England
13) Arthur Womack/Womock (1528 - 1607) born and died in England

Robert, who is the owner of this web page, is also the administrator
of the Womack DNA test results, which include participants of the
three identified lines. All participants descend from the same
progenitor.

Group A
William Womack (died before 1677, Henrico Co, VA) and UNKNOWN (maybe
Mary LNU) {commonly known as Mary Jane Allen, but no proof - bw}
Richard Womack, Sr and Mary Puckett

Group B
William Womack (died before 1677, Henrico Co, VA) and UNKNOWN (maybe
Mary LNU)
Abraham Womack (died 1733, Henrico Co, VA) and UNKNOWN

Group C (your line) (three participants)
William Womack (died before 1677, Henrico Co, VA) and UNKNOWN (maybe
Mary LNU) (your #10 -bw)
John Womack and Mary Akin (your #9 -bw)

Robert's Womack Family in America before 1850 Classification

B.16) William Womack of Halifax Co, NC - son of William, son of John
(m. Mary Akin -bw)
(B.16) - great-grandson of William Womack who died before 1677 Henrico
Co., VA -bw)

If William (B.16) were the great-grandson of William the progenitor,
then I have no information of his father, William. -bw

Hi Anya,

Sorry I have been busy with work or I would have responded sooner.

#8 William - he died in Halifax Co, NC, not in VA. You are correct
that he was the son of John (#8). I had though he was John's
grandson, but I have done a great deal of research into the Womacks of
southeast VA (counties of Southampton, Greenville, Surry, Sussex,
Brunswick, Prince George, etc), and I am convinced now that William
was John's son. One of many things I need to document one of these
days...

#9 John - he certainly died in Prince George Co, VA, but I do not know
where he was born. The Womacks were certainly from England, but when
they came to VA is uncertain, so John could have been born in England.

#10 on you list, there is no proof William's middle initial was B, and
in fact few people at that time had middle names. There is so little
proof that William even existed that some researchers do not believe
it, which I totally understand. My belief in William is shaky. See
(http://rebgen.blogspot.com/2010/01/american-womack-records-
before-1701.html). I have another theory in the works that might be a
little shocking to some folks, but would explain the DNA differences
between the descendants of the three brothers, Abraham, Richard, and
John.

#11, #12, and #13 are from a fabricated genealogy (yes, there are lots
of fake genealogies floating around) that was created in the 1850s,
and which has been entirely disproved. These people never existed or
never had children.

Hey Robert,

Thanks for replying!

#8 William - do you happen to know who his wife was (the mother of
Thomas Womack [1730-1795]) I can't seem to find the name of his wife
(if he had one).

Also, do you know Catherine's (born in 1780), wife of Carter Womack
(Carter is Thomas' son), maiden name?

About #10 I tried to go to that link, but it says it no longer exists.
What is your theory about him, if you don't mind me asking?

Do you know of any Wammack researchers that are in my line(or anyone
for that matter) that may have a picture of David Womack/Wammack and
Adeline? I have pictures of William Calvin Wammack, Henry Wammack and
Sallie Cook, and Walter Lee Wammack, Sr.

Feel free to e-mail me anything you don't want to discuss openly on
the boards (like your theory etc)

Hi Anya,

Sorry for long delays, busy with work.

See these two links:
http://www.tngs.org/ansearchin/pdf/1973-4.pdf
http://www.womacknet.com/sources/wgv1n2.html

In both links, search for James Hodges.

James Hodges was likely the father of Carter Womack's wife Catherine.
He assigned a land grant to Carter in Halifax Co, NC. Later, James
Hodges moved to Smith Co, TN where he died, and left a will naming
daughter Caty Womack.
