Anyone else experiencing Frontier landline phone service outage?

widespread service outage around greater Rochester, and I haven't had a dial
tone on my Frontier landline in Perinton for almost 24 hours. I am surprised
this Sunday morning that there is nothing in the D&C and nothing on
rnews.com.
I'm just asking if anyone else has had a problem, and if anyone knows the
cause. And if anyone else wonders how many 9-1-1 calls could not be made
during this outage...

No issues that I know of here in West Irondequoit. No word of the
issue on 13 WHAM.
This could be related to the utility pole damage near Marsh Rd. and
Fairport Rd. (31F) from a few months ago though, as that is a major
line for both Time Warner and Frontier if I remember correctly. I
haven't heard anything about this until now though, so I can't be
certain of that. It does sound like a probable culprit though, as they
had to rerun all the lines after replacing the poles.

You're on Road Runner, so why not try Vonage? My phone bill is
$20 a month, i get every conceivable feature under the sun, and
911, e911, and even the City's 311 service works.
Calls to North America and most of Western Europe are included,
and i can bring the modem with me anywhere where there's
broadband and make calls. If a friend down the street needs to
call her aunt in Belgium but can't afford the tolls, i can help. If i
take a trip to Arizona and the hotel charges for calls but provides
fast internet for free, then all my calls are free.
Calls to the rest of the world (South America, Africa, Asia and
Eastern Europe) are dirt cheap too, on the order of 2¢ or 3¢ a
minute for most countries.
By my count, Vonage has saved me over $2,000 in five years,
and if i paid telco rates for all the features i have but never use,
it would have cost me (easily) another $1,000.
Reliability? Yes, if the cable goes out then so does the phone.
But as you are now seeing, if the *phone* goes out, then so
does the *phone*! I have had two calls drop out in five years:
one to a TW digital phone customer, and the other one?
The other call that dropped out was the one i made to cancel
my landline phone service, 5 years ago. Odd coincidence, no?
I am not on their payroll at all, i'm just really happy with Vonage.
For $5 more every month, I could get the TW digital phone
package that includes unlimited calls to the Rochester area.
For $10 more than Vonage, TW offers unlimited calls to New
York State.
Yep, I laugh pretty hard every time a TW ad comes in the mail.

and it took a couple business days to fix each outage.
Rather than switch to VOIP, my household is now in the process of switching
to cell-only.
