WordNet:: Similarity Installation Problems

It's very sorry to see that I cannot find much help for installing
WN :: Similarity on a Windows XP Machine...I've Active Perl installed
on my machine..I have installed Wordnet database also and set the path
WNHOME.Documentation says that it needs WN::Querydata (also WN::Text
Sililarity and XML Parsers modules)...For QueryData I have executed

There's a file frames.vrb in $WNSEARCHDIR, which contains a list of
sentence frames with corresponding "frame IDs".
Then, in data.verb (or verb.dat), for each synset, sentence frames are

I had a request for QueryData to provide access to sentence frame
information. Does anyone know if/how this information is encoded in the WN
database files?

Just passing this along in case you hadn't heard...

Siddharth Patwardhan discovered WordNet::QueryData put together for
Ubuntu linux, which means it can be installed using apt-get...

I use ActivePerl, but QueryData is not listed in repository.
I read the web page [link], and added a repository including WordNet::QueryData. Now, the installation completed successfully.

Are you using ActivePerl? If so, you might want to try and install via
ppm (the Perl Package Manager that ActivePerl supports). It comes
with ActivePerl, and if you go to the DOS command prompt you
should be able to enter
ppm
install WordNet-QueryData

when I try to install querydata module, I am facing the following
error:

unable to find a perl 5(by these names: D:\Program Files\perl\bin

Troponyms are just verb hyponyms. 'hypo' should do it.

I'm a newbie to wordnet and I would like to know how to access the
troponyms via QueryData. I don't see a flag for troponyms in the
QueryData doc:

Or is there a relationship I don't understand and troponyms are access

it is close to what i need. I wonder if i ask another question, how can i select from the query return one alternate only (verb) and if there is only one alternate it is ok
like:
Forms : running#n, run#v, running#a >> how to select run#v only
if it is possible to return the word to its noun form, like: industrial (a) how i can return it to its noun form.

Just wanted to make sure you realize that validForms may not do what you
expect. From the QueryData man page:
"validForms" accepts a type (1) or (2) query string. It returns a
list of all alternate forms (alternate spellings, conjugations,
plural/singular forms, etc.). The type (1) query returns alternates

curious out of memory error

I had a small typo in the example program I just posted, and it
happened to cause
an out of memory error (on our Linux system).

use WordNet::QueryData;
my $wn = WordNet::QueryData->new;

print "Forms : ", join(", ", $wn->validForms("$running")), "\n";

Hi Walaa,

You might want to try validForms for that...it doesn't exactly do what
you describe (doesn't just find
the root), but I think it gets somewhat close in some cases.

Dear All,

I reinstalled everything (it seems that the problem was somehow in the
Wordnet::QueryData file that i had) and now my QueryData installation
completed perfectly.
