Good afternoon!
BOE Meeting
The next B.O.E meeting is scheduled for February 13th at Wappingers
Jr. High School. The February 27th meeting will be held at our
District Office. The executive session will start at
6:30PM and the public session will begin at approximately 7:30PM or
soon after.

****Drama Rehearsal****
Drama rehearsal has been canceled for today. Students should go home
on their regular buses.

****Girls Basketball****
There is no practice today. Girls should go home on their regular
buses. There will be practice on Monday, Feb. 13th from 3 to 4:30pm.

Superintendent Conference Day
School is closed for students on Friday, February 17th for
Superintendent Conference Day.

Collecting Bottle Caps/Lids
The Girl Scouts are collecting bottle caps and lids of all colors,
shapes and sizes for a mural. Please remove and wash all NON-
Alcoholic
lids before recycling and bring them to Ms. McCusker in room 223.

Homework Help
Beginning next week any student who would like to stay for help must
sign up in the Main Office with Mrs. Naughton and receive a pass.

****Snowflake Dance****
Tonight is the Snowflake Dance. Refreshments will be available for

Club members who are attending this Saturday's trip to Catamount must
be sure to hand in a copy of their second quarter grades to Mrs.

****Wappingers Indians Football & Cheer
Registration****

Join the Wappingers Falls Indians, Orange Bowl Football Champions and
National Cheerleading Champions, for another season of excitement!
Become part of the area's fastest growing youth league. The program is
taught by certified, experienced coaches. Football currently open to
participants from age 5 up to those attending 8th grade during the
2012-2013 school year. No weight restrictions. Follows RCK football
program.Cheer open to all children ages 5-15. Take advantage of our
discount offer for early registration.

Early Arrivals
Students who do not take the bus and arrive early to school are asked
to please report to the cafeteria. They will be dismissed to their
lockers when the students are released from the buses.

Interscholastic Sports and Sports Physical
Information
Parents and students interested in forms and information about
Interscholastic sports and sports physicals are invited to visit are
website. Our Athletic department has kindly supplied us with forms
for you to download and copy.

WJHS Yearbook
The students will have an opportunity to purchase the 2012 WJHS
Yearbook on February 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th during the students
lunch period. Please send your child in with an order form and either
cash or a check payable to WJHS PTA. Order forms can be downloaded
from the PTA yearbook site.
The cost is $25 with an additional charge of $5 if you wish to have
your child's name on the cover.
*The final deadline to purchase a yearbook will be March 16th.*

Black History Month Contest
An Art and Essay contest beginning on February 1st through the 24th
will be sponsored by the Student Government. The Art project should
reflect Dr. King's dream. The essay should consist of what can you as
a student do to continue his dream. Winners will receive a four pass
to the Regal Cinema at the Poughkeepsie Galleria. Please submit your
work to Ms. Attlesey or Mr. Ramirez. No late submissions will be
accepted.

Spring Sports Physicals
Consent forms for spring sports are now being accepted. If you plan
on trying out for a spring sport you must hand in a consent form to
the Health Office no later than March 23rd.
If you need a sports physical done by the School Doctor please come
to the Health Office, pick up a consent form and schedule your
appointment. Your sports physical will not be done if you do not hand
in your consent form.
If you plan on having a sports physical done by your own private
physician, you must hand in your consent form and a copy of your
health examination (done by your own doctor). The school doctor must
approve your physician's physical before you may try out for sports.
If these forms are not turned in by March 13th you will not be
cleared for spring sports.
Spring sports begin on March 26, 2012.
Consent Forms Due on March 23, 2012.
Health Exam Forms and Consent Form Due: March 13th or sooner (if
private physician physical done)
Dates for Sports Physicals: Feb.15th, 29th and Mar.14th.

Recess
Now that the colder weather has arrived any student who wished to go
outside during their lunch period must dress appropriately for the
weather. This means students need to wear a Jacket or Coat to go
outside.

Free Math Tutoring
A community volunteer group is offering free math tutoring and
homework assistance to students in Grades 7-12. The sessions are
from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays at Van Wyck JHS. All
Wappingers
students in grades 7-12 are welcome to attend. Students attending
these sessions are expected to bring their homework and have their
textbooks. Students must also bring a signed permission slip to the
first session they attend. Forms are available in our Main Office.

Student Code of Conduct
The 2011-12 Student Code of Conduct is posted on both the District
and our webpage for you to view.

Dress Code
Please read the information on our webpage concerning the dress code
for WJHS. Students are asked to please abide by these rules when
dressing for school.

Change of Address and/or Phone
Number
If any time during the school year you have changed your address and/
or phone number please contact our Guidance office so that they may
update your information in our system. Thank you in advance for your
cooperation.

Absent and Bus Notes
All absent notes and notes requesting that students ride a bus home
other than their usual one must be handed in to the monitors at the
Main Lobby desk before first period. Please make sure that these
notes include a phone number in case an Administrator needs to
clarify any information on the notes.
Students are to pick up their bus passes during their lunch periods.
Students are responsible for their passes. Lost passes will not be
re-issued at dismissal as the buses need to leave promptly at 2:50
pm.

Health and Safety
Due to the potential of severe allergic reactions by students,
teachers and staff, Administration is asking that everyone at WJHS
refrain for using and/or spraying all aerosol products in school or
on the buses. These products include but are not limited to
deodorant, perfume, cologne and air fresheners. Thank you for your
cooperation.

Early Dismissal/Walking Home
Any student walking or being picked up early - please remember that
we need written permission as soon as you arrive at school. A signed
note from your parent/guardian goes right to the main lobby desk and
the monitors will help you.

Walker/Pick Up Forms
Any student who will be walking to and/or from school needs to pick-
up a Walker form from the Main Office. Any student who will be picked
up by a parent on a regular basis needs to pick up a form from the
Main Office also.
