Good Morning! Today is Day 1.

****Winter Concert****
Congratulations to our 8th grade orchestra, band and chorus on their
outstanding performance at last night’s concert. We are extremely
proud of you. The
second half will be next Wednesday, Dec. 9th so reserve that date for
more
fun and entertainment.

Academic Eligibility
Students must have an overall average of at least 70%, with no more
than one failure using the most recent quarter's grades available to
participate in Extra-curricular Activities. Students are asked to
please bring a copy of their report card to all tryouts to verify
their academic eligibility.

****Wrestling Tryouts Update****
Wrestling Tryouts continues today Thursday, December 3rd. The boys
will
also have practice next week Monday, Dec. 7th through Thursday, Dec.
10th.
Practice is from 3 to 4:45PM at RCK. Transportation has provided us
with a
bus to transport the boys.

****Winter Cheerleading Tryouts****
Winter Cheerleading Tryouts continues today Thursday, December 3rd at
Myers Corners Elementary School at 5PM.

Winter Recess
Winter Recess begins on Wednesday, December 24th through Friday,
January 1, 2010. Students will return to school on Monday, January
4th.

Project Homework Help
Any student interested in getting help with their homework please
come to the Project Homework Help Club which will meet in room 144.
You will be able to take the late bus home.

Girls Basketball
Girls’ basketball tryouts continue today Thursday, December 3rd from
3 to 4:30PM. Please make sure you have a physical form on file with
the nurse.

Toys for Tots
Our school is participating in the Toys for Tots drive to help
brighten the holidays for thousands of children in Dutchess County.
New unwrapped toys may be dropped off in the Main Office until
December 16th.

Handful of Pennies
We are also participating in a “Handful of Pennies” to purchase toys.
If you have any spare change please deposit it in the jar located on
the counter in the Main Office from November 30th to December 4th.

Your generosity to both of these worthwhile causes is greatly
appreciated.

Drama Update
The schedules for December rehearsals are available in the hallway to
the right of the stage. If you have any questions please see Ms.

BOE Update
The Board will next meet on Monday, December 7 at 7:30 PM at the
District Office. All are welcome to attend.

PTA Book Fair
The PTA Book Fair concludes today. Students with coupons for the book
fair you need to use them today.

Yearbook Meeting
There will be a meeting for 8th graders on the Layout Yearbook staff
today Thursday, December 3rd in room 102. You will take the 3:50 PM
late
bus home.

Yearbook Purchases
Yearbooks can still be ordered in room 102 for $25 cash. Check will
not be accepted. Please come down prior to 1st period.

Recess
Students please remember you must be dressed appropriately for the
weather if you wish to go outside during your lunch period.

Emergency Card Information
The Administrators, teachers and staff appreciate all the parents/
guardians who have returned their completed Emergency Contact cards.
Should any changes or updates happen to this information during the
school year please contact school.

Reporting School Absences
When you call for a student absence, please specify the reason for
the absence such as fever, headache, nausea, etc. so we can gather
and tabulate data as per the Department of Health requirement.

Parents are reminded to please send their son/daughter to school
only after they are symptom free for 24 hours (without the assistance
of fever reducing medication such as advil, tylenol, etc.)

Free Math Help and Tutoring
A community volunteer group is offering free math tutoring and
homework assistance to students in Grades 7 & 8. The sessions will
be from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays at Van Wyck JHS. More

Communication
Communication is extremely important to the Administrators, teachers
and staff at WJHS. Therefore, please remember that notes from
parents/ guardians on early dismissal, late arrivals, bus change or
any thing that effects your child would be greatly appreciated.

Building Guests/Visitors
All parents/guardians and guests are asked to enter the building
through the Main lobby or parking lot doors only. There are adults
monitoring these areas for safety reasons who will ask you to sign in
with a
valid picture ID. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Box Tops for Education
The Wappingers Junior High PTA is collecting Box Tops for Education!
Please help us by cutting out the "Box Tops for Education" labels on
groceries you use and dropping them off in the "Box Tops Bear" in the
main
office. The PTA will receive 10 cents for each box top submitted. The
money
raised will be used for activities and equipment for the students at
Wappingers
Junior High.
