                                        School Closing
School is closed for students on Tuesday, November 3rd for
Superintendent Conference day.

                                           BOE Meeting
The Board of Education will meet on Monday, November 2 at 7:30 PM
at the District Office. All are welcome to attend.

                                ****Girls Volleyball Team****
In the final set of their game against Van Wyck our Volleyball team
fell to
Van Wyck by only 2 points. The girls played their strongest game all
season.
Come support the girls at their last game here on Monday, November
2nd
beginning at 3:30PM.

                                     ****Girls Field Hockey****
The Field Hockey team had a great game yesterday. Everyone played
well.
The girls would like to thank Ms. Baldwin for her hard work and
dedication
to the team.

                                   Homework Help Club
Any student interested in getting help with their homework, please
come to the Project Homework Help Club in room 144. Students who
participate will be able to take the 3:50 PM late bus home. The club
will meet on:

                                          Sports Physicals
Physicals for Winter Sports are now in progress. If you need a sports

Last Night’s blood drive was a great success! Team 7-Yellow would

                                       PTA Reflections
WJHS students are invited to participate in the PTA-sponsored fine
arts competition, Reflections. Individuals may submit work in one or
more of the following areas: photography, visual arts, literature,
musical composition, dance choreography, and film/video production.
The theme for this year's competition is "Beauty is......". Students
may sign up in the Main Office throughout this week. The PTA will be
asking students to supply their name, homeroom number, email address
and home phone number, so that we can contact them with rules, due
dates,
and additional information about the program. If you have any

                                    7th Grade Girl Day
Discover your power, beauty and strength. 7th Grade girls are invited
to register for a special day for girls at Dutchess Community
College. “Live Your Dream Girls’” Conference is on November 7th. Pre-
registration ends on November 2, 2009.

                              Emergency Card Information
The Administrators, teachers and staff appreciate all the parents/
guardians who have returned their completed Emergency Contact cards.
Should any changes or updates happen to this information during the
school year please contact school.

                               Reporting School Absences
When you call for a student absence, please specify the reason for
the absence such as fever, headache, nausea,  etc. so we can gather
and tabulate data as per the Department of Health requirement.

Parents are reminded to please send their son/daughter to school only
after they are symptom free for 24 hours (without the assistance of
fever reducing medication such as advil, tylenol, etc.)

                            Free Math Help and Tutoring
A community volunteer group is offering free math tutoring and
homework assistance to students in Grades 7 & 8. The sessions will
be from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays at Van Wyck JHS. More

                                     Communication
Communication is extremely important to the Administrators, teachers
and staff at WJHS.  Therefore, please remember that notes from
parents/ guardians on early dismissal, late arrivals, bus change or
any thing that effects your child would be greatly appreciated.

                                Building Guests/Visitors
All parents/guardians and guests are asked to please remember
that they will be asked to present valid picture ID when they enter
our building.

                               November 2, 2009 - Candy Donations
There will be a collection of any candy students wish to donate to
the troops on Monday, November 2nd in the Main Office. Please do not
donate chocolates as it will melt during transportation.
