Winter Concert
You are invited to the second half of the WJHS Winter Concert to be
presented on Wednesday, December 9th beginning at 7:30 PM in the
auditorium.
This performance will feature the harmonious sounds of our 7th Grade
orchestra, band and chorus.
(The schedule snow date for this event is January 13, 2010.)

Academic Eligibility
Students must have an overall average of at least 70%, with no more
than one failure using the most recent quarter's grades available to
participate in Extra-curricular Activities. Students are asked to
please bring a copy of their report card to all tryouts to verify
their academic eligibility.

Wrestling Practice
Practice will resume today Monday, Dec. 7th through
Thursday, Dec.10th. Practice is from 3 to 4:45PM at RCK.
Transportation has provided us with a bus to transport the boys.

Student Government
Student Gov’t members please remember your holiday party
contributions are due before Wednesday, December 9th.

Winter Recess
Winter Recess begins on Thursday, December 24th through Friday,
January 1, 2010. Students will return to school on Monday, January
4th.

Project Homework Help
Any student interested in getting help with their homework please
come to the Project Homework Help Club which will meet in room 144.
You will be able to take the late bus home.

Toys for Tots Drive
Our school is participating in the Toys for Tots drive to help
brighten the holidays for thousands of children in Dutchess County.
New unwrapped toys may be dropped off in the Main Office until
December 16th.

Team 7 Blue
Team 7 Blue is fundraising to make a difference. We are selling Jeff
Yalden’s bracelets. They are $1 each. Please see a Team 7 Blue
representative if you would like to purchase one.

Yearbook Purchases
Yearbooks can still be ordered in room 102 for $25 cash. Check will
not be accepted. Please come down prior to 1st period.

Recess
Students please remember you must be dressed appropriately for the
weather if you wish to go outside during your lunch period.

Emergency Card Information
The Administrators, teachers and staff appreciate all the parents/
guardians who have returned their completed Emergency Contact cards.
Should any changes or updates happen to this information during the
school year please contact school.

Reporting School Absences
When you call for a student absence, please specify the reason for
the absence such as fever, headache, nausea, etc. so we can gather
and tabulate data as per the Department of Health requirement.

Parents are reminded to please send their son/daughter to school
only after they are symptom free for 24 hours (without the assistance
of fever reducing medication such as advil, tylenol, etc.)

Free Math Help and Tutoring
A community volunteer group is offering free math tutoring and
homework assistance to students in Grades 7 & 8. The sessions will
be from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesdays at Van Wyck JHS. More

Communication
Communication is extremely important to the Administrators, teachers
and staff at WJHS. Therefore, please remember that notes from
parents/ guardians on early dismissal, late arrivals, bus change or
any thing that effects your child would be greatly appreciated.

Building Guests/Visitors
All parents/guardians and guests are asked to enter the building
through the Main lobby or parking lot doors only. There are adults
monitoring these areas for safety reasons who will ask you to sign in
with a valid picture ID. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

Box Tops for Education
The Wappingers Junior High PTA is collecting Box Tops for Education!
Please help us by cutting out the "Box Tops for Education" labels on
groceries you use and dropping them off in the "Box Tops Bear" in the
main office. The PTA will receive 10 cents for each box top
submitted. The money raised will be used for activities and equipment
for the
students at Wappingers Junior High.
