09-09-13 Meeting Summary and Some Topics for Discussion and Next meeting arrangment

Hi,all!

In this meeting, we showed these presentations one by one and
disscussed the modification on how to incorprate it into a whole
lecture.
--------------- Meeting Summary----------------
In conclusion, we made a timeline for the 2-hour lecture like this:

1. 5min --- Introduction of WiserU & WiserPKU (Dongyao)

2. 20min --- Prezi&Mind Map (Ma Wen)

3. 25min --- Reference(Literature) Search (Dongyao, Wenxia,Ma wen,
Wang Xuan?)

4. 15min --- Reference(Literature) Managment (Zhao Yao)

5. 20min --- Collaborative Editing (Alex Yu)

6. 20min --- Online Conference (Zhang Yi, Lily,Wang Ying)

7. 10min --- Scientific Paper Writing (Haifeng)

8. 5min --- Future Activity Plan of WiserPKU (All)

As discussed in the meeting, every category of the lecture may need
some modification like this:
1. 5min --- Introduction of WiserU & WiserPKU (Dongyao)

Dongyao will contact luping or livio for the introduction.

2. 20min --- Prezi&Mind Map (Ma Wen)

Focus on three main topics:

a- Introduce a general scentific research process using prezi---What
we will do.

Ps: in this part, it's better to make it shining and attract the
audience interest in future lecture, as I got the feedback from the
audience in this meeting that he felt the prezi very cool and
different from ppt.

b- Introduce the functions and some usage of prezi (flexible time
arrangment suggested)

c- Mind Map show should include both the general fuctions show and a
specific case show.

3. 25min --- Reference(Literature) Search (Dongyao, Wenxia,Ma wen,
Wang Xuan?)

Integrate the three ppts into one. The details are up to corresponding
subgroup's disccussion and collaboration. Remember we should try to
find a tradeoff between scentific ref research and unscentific ref
research.

4. 15min --- Reference(Literature) Managment (Zhao Yao)

Maybe it's better to add some images of the mendeley interface when
you introduce some specific function or do a live demo show.

5. 20min --- Collaborative Editing (Alex Yu)

Live show with some partners (from our group or the audience of the
lecture). A backup of a movie show is recommended in case the web
service is not good then.

6. 20min --- Online Conference (Zhang Yi, Lily,Wang Ying)

We will introduce the vyew with movie show and live explication to the
audience. Some main features will be introduced to the audience while
more functions could leave to be explored by themselves.

7. 10min --- Scientific Paper Writing (Haifeng)

As there is a part of how to get access to the international website,
so if the web service is good, a live show on these methods is
recommended.

8. 5min --- Future Activity Plan of WiserPKU (All)

It may need our discussion in the next meeting and some of us have
some ideas.

--------------- Some Topics for Discussion-----------------

1.The Efficiency of Our Meeting

We planned to spend 3 hours on presentation show and disccussion on
corporation, but actually we spent more time than supposed and over 4
hours in the end. So Haifeng pointed that our efficiency is too low.

Welcome everyone comments on this issue and gives advice on how to
improve the efficiency of both the meeting and other work.

In my opinion, as it's the first meeting after all members came back
to school, we do need join together and spend several hours showing
the presentations and discuss the modification.

The presentation show time could sum up to 2hours, how much time is
suitable for discussion on modification and incorpration? 2hours+ or
2hours-? We may focus on how to improve the efficiency of discussion
section~~

2.Sub-group activity

One of the low eficiency of the meeting may be caused by the low
activity of sub-groups. So we suggest the sub-group should prepare
well before the meeting and thus we can improve the efficiency for
sure.

I wish I'd be there! Sounds great. As I already said, this is
inspiring for us in France, I will try to set up something similar
here and report about our work on the mailing lists.

Maybe you already did that but - I suggest having someone moderating the
discussion, taking care of the timing, gathering notes after the meeting
and making a list of "TODOs".

Also, preparing the meeting by gathering on IRC (freenode#wiseru) can be
uesful.

Too many sub-groups can be counter-productive, better gather as a whole
team as much as possible.
