I've been using wink for many years and it worked flawlessly under Windows XP. However, when I recently purchased a new i5 with 12 GB RAM and 1 TB hard drive with Windows 7 64 bit, I installed the same version of Wink and began to experience problems similar to what you are experiencing.
I uninstalled wink which had, by default, installed it into the Program Files (x86) folder. After the uninstall was completed, I restarted my computer and did a fresh install but this time I changed the folder from the default of (x86) to just Program Files. I've not had any issues since.
Please let us know if you try this fix and how it works for you.

Hello, and thank you so much for quickly approving my membership!
I LOVE this program and am sorry to say I'm having trouble with it not
working about half the time. I'm using what is hopefully the latest
version of Wink, as I don't see any later one on the download page,
Wink 2.0 build 1060, with Windows Vista.
I start Wink, everything works normally, "Finish capture," and then it
freezes. I get an error message that says something like, "Wink.exe
has stopped working. Windows is checking for a solution to the
problem," where Windows never finds any solutions ("cancel" is the
only option), and then a few seconds later it says "Wink.exe has
stopped working," and then says Windows hasn't found any solutions and
offers "Close program" as the only option.
I'll get that error about 3 times in a row, and then Wink works again
for 2 or 3 more times. Then I go through 3 more errors in a row like
the one described previously.
Today I discovered a new problem. I started Wink, the doohickey in
the taskbar was "stuck" with the first square in the upper left-hand
corner showing green, and no matter what I did, it did not start
working. I kept trying and it did the same thing, over and over. It
only started working again after a complete system reboot.
Ironically, before THAT happened, it had been working the usual way,
the 3ish times working, 3ish times with errors.
Please let me know if I've neglected to give some important info. I
can say that I'm using a pretty small frame size, 325x250, 40 frames
per second, and due to concern about encountering other errors, I've
taken to saving my files as Wink projects, then returning to edit,
delete frames, etc. I'm getting about 500-something frames at the
MOST. More frequently, I'm getting a smaller amount of frames,
perhaps 200-300 or so.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings about this otherwise EXCELLENT
program!
Thank you in advance for any and all insights!
