Agree this was one of the best days with most consistent wind in
recent years...totally fulfilling. This is why we love the sport and
yesterday erased the memory of at least 3 frustrating sessions. Got
totally dialed in on my 4.1 and in my zone, only 5 days after a great
session at Smithville. The big chop and rollers in the 3-5 ft range
made the blistering speed runs...um...challenging...causing some scary
wipe-outs. Some of the strongest wind (& flatter water) was again
found at the other side in the NE corner, near the Boulder shore,
which was strange since it was more offshore there. We should look at
launching there sometime on S or SW.
I did want to note that there are places that are 4-5 ft deep near the
"silo" 2/3 of the way to Boulder...some as far as 300-400 yds S and SW
of it! You can tell it's getting shallow because the chop gets short
but steeper. Just be careful when falling to KEEP YOUR LEGS BENT..a
good habit on any fall. Also I HIT 5 FISH, which is more than I've
hit my entire life! This proves that I was breaking the sound
barrier, so they couldn't hear me coming!
It was great to see so many sailers & kiters; hope we get another
great session this season.

When I arrived at 12:30 the Clinton Lake Kiters were all on the water (Moyers/Hugh). Hans, Larry, Chad, Dan & myself windsurfed. Probably the steadiest high wind I've seen at Carlyle in a long time. Wind in the middle of the lake was well into the 30's at its peak. There were many long high speed runs through "The Mogul Field". Had to be carefull navigating the large rollers especially coming back, since you were heading towards them. With the bay filled in, it also made for some fun high speed inside jibes. After 1:30 Juan and a new kiter, David showed up. David is from Dallas, but will be spending 6 months here on business. David was impressed with the launch and surprised how strong the wind was. I told him that was very typical of Carlyle. There was also a lost but found kite
