Rich, i have only been windsurfing for 4 years. I was at C C lake one or two years ago and someone was kiting.  Then I thought I read the next day someone on wind fun st louis wrote they got tangled in their kite strings.and almost drowned that day.  I thought it was someone named Rich.  I could very much be wrong.  I thought the kiter said it was at Creve Couer.  I could be wrong about the whole thing.  I apologize for any misrepresentation of facts, it was not intenional.. I have been known to get facts way wrong.  Obviously it was not you.  I liked reading your didication to kiting.  I never had time to read them all.  I did not know you have not been to Creve Couer for years.  i have been at CC lake on a number of occasions when kiters had alot of troubles.  I was there on two different times when two different guys were blown accross Marie avenue.  I have seen some very skillful kiters at Creve Couer also.  kite surfing and windsurfing are two very different sports.   Wind surfing at Creve couer is safer than kiting.  Kiters should be extra cautious at Creve Couer because big  gusts often times come from nowhere and you don't see them coming on the water like you can see them on Carlysle.  On Creve Couer there are places where the wind picks up and places where it dies as I am sure you experienced guys know.  Ted

Ted,

To add to your description of C.C.

I was there last summer and there happend to be a sailboat race. I sat there and watched a heat and you could see some boats racing probably as fast as they could and some just sitting there in a lull. I watched one boat capsize because of the wind while on the other side of the lake they just sat there. It is a strange place for sure.
