Introduction: Kirby Urner

My thanks to Patricia for welcoming me aboard.

I was clued about Wikieducator by Maria Droujkova.
She clued me about a WizIQ presentation that
was focused on Wikieducator on Oct 31, 2009.

I have since established my user page, KirbyUrner,
and gotten to work contributing open learning materials.
That user page has an autobiographical subpage one
might skim if wanting to get more of a sense of my
personal timeline.

In terms of math learning, I've been involved with
Oregon-based teachers (Oregon = a Pacific Rim state)
on what some of us are calling a "digital math" track,
one that takes computer technology somewhat
more for granted than the inherited more calculator-
based math curriculum (which we sometimes call
"analog math" for contrast). Our work extrapolates
along existing trends and overlaps several projects,
including One Laptop Per Child and WikiEducator.

This has to do with the economics of our region,
also known as the Silicon Forest.
