Steve,

Great job taking OA in the Witch Way 5K Saturday! You were smokin'! Had you run the 50K at Croom like Matt and me instead of the 16 Mile Fun Run you would have even been faster! :-)

I doubled back to see how Sarah was holding up (first run in 4 weeks due to a long siege of Bronchitis), skipped the awards and headed straight for WP and ran a pretty slow training marathon in around 5:20. Then Sunday put in another 20 miles out of a planned 30 miler ... got lazy I guess plus I had a 12:30 cutoff time. ;-)

No problem at all with my toes so I guess they straightened their own selves out or I don't really need all my toe nails anyway.

I will be in Indy but probably get some more miles in on the road after the race then jump on the bike for a jaunt down A1A before settling into some volleyball at Paradise!!!

Tape all the rotten toes together!!!

Steve,

See you at the Witch Way 5K ... I'm leaving for Wickham right after Sarah finishes the run.

I lost parts of the toenails on first two toes on my right foot last night ... a bit tender and the big toe is bleeding a bit ... I went out this noon for 5 miles in turkey creek ... not too bad as long I stayed real slow.

I am the skipping awards ceremony so plan to be at wickham by 8:30 and get started on hopefully 30+ miles in say 7 hours. We'll see how the toes hold up!

Same for Sunday at Wickham, but shorter distance / time.

Ok folks, I finished this thing. Remember I am no writer so it won’t be great but it can’t be any worse than Jimbo’s! hahahahaa

Also included some relative pics.

Good day and goooood weekend. See you on the road or trail.

Jim,
Come up here and you'll lose your toes due to the cold. A 9:00AM start for a 50K and 32 degrees? Inhuman!
When you are used to running in shorts it is quite an adjustmen.

Hey Scott,

No thanks! We ran the Witch Way 5K in 50 deg weather and that was cold enough! Next morning at Wickham was even colder. My bronchiectasis was really bad the first three laps until it cleared a bit ... I sounded like a steam engine!

Matt, Joe, Adam, Amos, John Pyle and I finished the JH 50K w/ a Heat Index of 105 Deg!

Jim,
I have been foing the emails so knew all of you had run the Crooms in that brutal heat. Interesting that you were dealing with unusually hot weather down thereand the weather up here was unusually cold. Normally mid 40s this time of year. The one major benefit is the many different places to eat. I figure I can not duplicate a restaurant for at least 6 months and still have great meals.

Yeah, we set a record low of 49 last night ... rugged up in long track pants, long sleeved shirt, wind cheater and gloves for the ride in!

I went to the Toronto Marathon Expo to buy a pair of running tights. cannot use cotton because you sweat and freeze so synthetics and wicking fibers are necessary. Quite a change!

Well, I ran for years in Iowa and Colorado winters so I know about sweating in cotton and freezing! My beard would get covered w/ ice then melt when I came indoors!

We had a good turnout Sunday: Me, Matt, Laurie Ann, Bob, Mark, Terri and a new guy Paul. Maybe the cool weather encouraged everyone.

Matt and I are pretty well heat trained so we froze our cojones off! Even though I am eating like a horse, my BMI has dropped to 19 so I think I am not enjoying too much insulation anymore.
