Well Davey, should we send them to 850 Buffalo Avenue in Calumet City? Will
you put on one of your mommy's dresses for them?

I do NOT appreciate ANY of my posts being spoofed, altered or
otherwise redone. I know this is just someone's idea of being an
asshole. Good job at doing that. I've been gone for over a year. I
see things really don't change. Too bad too. Oh well. Back to being
gone as I see the playground hasn't changed.

Kim, Moore has a "PLAN" top blame the forgeries on me, claiming that you
and I have bad blood between us. That's his standard game. What the frigging
MORON doesn't know CAN and WILL serve to embarrass him. Hang in there.
Moore does this kind of shit when he's not getting laid. So prepare for a

Any tax that doesn't empty your wallet it too low, apparently. But the
Republicans are WORSE as taxing and spending.

Such a critter doesn't exist. Look at George W. Bush, got elected
ranting on the tax and spend Democrats, and went right out and out-taxed and
out spent the Democrats 100 to 1!

Yes, as a matter of fact there ARE! Not sure of the exact nose count but
it is in the many thousands.

> I think that's all light rail would be good for. Anything else,
> I don't think you could pry people out of their cars.

They won't have a choice in the near future. Building the system will
only get more expensive. With the right design and a subway system the
trains could also carry freight. Try to get that p[icture in your mind of a
winter snow storm and traffic on I-94 STOPPED for days.

> I don't think you could drive there that quickly.

I can think of MANY problems with the mismanaged Amtrak. Amtrak is
limited by weather as well. Cost is a big factor in keeping ridership down.
If you have an intelligent design for a SUBWAY system linking Milwaukee to
Chicago the connection to the loop would be about an hour. That would
include a stop in either Racine or Kenosha. Remember from downtown Milwaukee
to Chicago's loop is only about 60 miles. If you can do much of that over
90MPH it can make it quick. If you design it to also carry freight it really
pays for itself. The benefit for Wisconsin is going to be the number of
people who work in Chicago who would choose to live in Wisconsin. Why?
Taxes. Compare the two places. Better living conditions especially for
families. Also consider that it takes the average worker in Chicago's loop
LONGER to get to work than it would taking the rail from Milwaukee. Even
using public transportation in Chicago. That's not even comparing driving in
Chicago. Even when I lived and worked in the loop in the early 70's and
lived on the near north side of Chicago it was at least a 2 hour drive EVERY
DAY. I was a wreck by the time I got to my office.

Now consider this. A comfortable rail ride. Wi-fi at your seat and work
space. No asshole in front of you trying to cut you off to get ahead of you
JUST to be ahead of you. No wrecks on the highway blocking traffic for 6
hours. Nobody flipping you the bird for changing lanes because yours isn't
moving. You can read your paper, go online play games, chat with family or
friends. Go to Union Station, catch a cab to your office and be ready for
work not shot in the nerves. WHY would you want to live in Chicago??

It was supposed to stop sewage overflows into Lake Michigan.

If there's enough snow to stop above-ground trains, businesses will
probably close (i.e. no need to commute).

"Reduce" ... it always had emergency overflow locations built into it from
the beginning for large-volume events. But the practice of dumping into
Lake Michigan practically every time it rained had to be stopped.

Blah, blah, blah, yap, yap, yap... you never come close to making an
estimate of what a tunnel would cost. You why? Because you don't HAVE A
CLUE.

Well Mark - it will cost tens of millions more today than it would have
10 years ago. It will cost tens of millions more as long as it is delayed
and studied to death. It WILL eventually pay for itself as all subway
systems have. It is vastly cheaper today with current technology (tunnel
boring machines) that keep getting improved. The expense is, indeed,
something I can't predict. The cost will depend on how half-assed the
project is designed. Maybe as big a screw up as Boston's "big dig." Depends
on how many politicians contribute to the DESIGN. Remember the Camel was
supposed to be a small dog until the political crew got their points into
it.

Again with the right design you could be very efficient and high speed.
Using an upper deck for passengers and a lower deck for freight. There are
so many tangible benefits, such as a substantial increase in population (and
property values) as people living in Chicago learn they can get to the loop
faster and cheaper from Milwaukee than they can from Chicago's suburbs. Not
to mention the significant difference for them in TAXES in Illinois. Better
schools in Milwaukee. People already commute from Milwaukee to the loop in
Chicago now.

Mark you can keep singing your tune. Although it IS getting boring.

Hey Ken, do you think they could do like Bart under the bay and build a tube to
Michigan? That would be so cool. Oh and I ready somewhere about a pneumatic drive
system somewhere.

Yeah! That would sure beat the ferries! And it makes as much sense as Ken's
idea.

Really Mark? WHO wants to go to Michigan? Even the people who live there
don't want to go there! However lots of people want to travel between
Milwaukee and CHICAGO. With a ultra high speed subway, lots more would.

Let's see the "Lake Express" carried HOW MANY passengers for how many
months of a year? WHO would want to visit Michigan in FEBRUARY? (In their
right mind, that is.) (ON PURPOSE!)
