Hi Everyone-
First, I just want to thank Patricia for getting this going; it's not
an easy job to track everyone down, but it's been really fun to see it
coming together! And it will be great to see everyone who can manage
to make it back for the reunion!
I also just wanted to give you guys the scoop on having something at
my parents' farm, in case you want to consider that as an option.
They have company picnics, reunions, and weddings there on a pretty
regular basis now in the summertime. They normally charge $25/person,
with a minimum of 100 people, and that includes a BBQ dinner, non-
alcoholic drinks and snacks, and grounds rental for about 5 hours. If
the class wanted to sell alcohol, we would have to get a license and
insurance for that, but my brother said some groups get around that by
either having everyone bring their own, or by raising the price they
charge people, and including a certain amount of free drink tickets
with every dinner ticket. I guess as long as you're not officially
selling it, you don't have to have the license and insurance? If this
ends up being a family event, they normally charge less for the kids'
meals, but then there is an extra charge for running the train, so
probably it would come out about the same per person. June is their
most popular month, so to get a specific date, it would probably need
to be reserved 6 months to a year in advance. They usually collect a
deposit worth 1/3 of the estimated cost about 2-3 months before the
event, and then collect the rest at the event, or even a few days
after. My brother said that the typical WHS class reunion is right
around the 100 person minimum.
Anyways, I apologize if that's way more info than anyone cared to
think about this early, but I promised Pat I would get that to her
soon, so that everyone could mull over what they wanted to do. Hope
you're all doing well, and can't wait to see you soon!
