1) County-Wide Drill
On September 6th a county-wide disaster drill was conducted by the
Frankin County Emergency Management Agency. The drill was designed to
assess Central Ohio's strengths and weaknesses in the event of a large
scale disaster. For Worthington's portion of the drill a toxic
chemical was released inside an occupied school. The drill allowed
Police and Fire agencies the opportunity for mutual training and
assessments of future needs.
2) TRAINING FIRE
During the week of September 10th crews spent 3 days conducting live
fire training at a structure located on Olentangy River Road. This
training gave all of our crews tactical training in areas of
suppression, ventilation, water supply, and more. Live fire
evolutions are a critical part of the training needed in preparing our
crews to deliver a high standard of service to our community. We
understand that neighbors living near such training may be
inconvenienced and appreciate your understanding.
3) ER101 RETURNS
ER101 was returned earlier in September after returning to the
manufacturer for body work. The apparatus was damaged when a motorist
failed to yield to this emergency vehicle. This accident resulted in
no serious injuries, but did take this piece of apparatus out of
service for several weeks.
3) OPEN HOUSE
Our Open House will be OCTOBER 7th from 1200 - 1500 hrs. Due to
budget constraints, this year's hours and displays have been trimmed
back. We still hope you have a few moments to stop by and visit, talk
or just say hello. We always enjoy seeing you and hope you enjoy the
visit as well.
