1)  2007 Fire Run Activity
During 2007 our fire companies responded to over 2500 calls for fires,
rescues and other assistance.  Our average response time for all fire
company responses, including those outside Worthington, was 6
minutes.  Of these responses, 55 were structure fires.  Approximately
30% of calls, our companies were canceled en route when providing
assistance to neighboring jurisdictions.

Approximately 25% of our fire responses were calls providing
assistance to our EMS crews.  Our EMS crews handled almost 3000
responses with EMS companies.

2)  New Hazardous Materials Response Vehicle
This new apparatus should be going in to service in the next few
weeks.  Since delivery, members have been working on transferring
equipment over, installing radios, etc.  We still need to have many of
our members complete some driver training with this truck as well.
The truck was manufactured by Sutphen Corp. and its subsidiaries, and
was paid for by a Grant administered by the Franklin Co. Emerg.
Management Agency.

3)  Safety
Although we had a little snow in December, January and February are
more likely candidates for significant snow fall.  Besides the obvious
reminder to plan extra time for trips in bad weather, we'd like to ask
how easy it is to find your home or business address from the street.
In emergencies seconds count, and many homes and businesses do not
have address markings that can be easily seen.  For additional
information  you can read more at:
