NEW HAZ-MAT VEHICLE GOES IN SERVICE
After finishing installation of radios and computers on this vehicle,
AND getting our members through driver training, we're pleased to
announce that our new HM101 is in service.  This vehicle was
manufactured by Sutphen Corp. and was delivered late last year.  The
funding for this new apparatus was made possible through a Grant
administered by the Franklin County Emergency Management Agency.  The
new apparatus has improved communication and monitoring capabilities,
as well as better design features to assist members when preparing to
mitigate a Haz-Mat emergency.  You can view some pictures at:

EMS TRAINING
Annual Paramedic Refresher training for our Division began this month
and will run weekly through March.  This class is part of continuing
education that helps our members meet State requirements for
certification.  The Paramedic Refresher course reviews protocol,
anatomy, pharmacology, EKGs, and many more modalities used by our
Paramedics regularly in the field.

CARBON MONOXIDE SAFETY
This time of year we see a large increase in calls to check homes for
Carbon Monoxide.  CO is a colorless, odorless gas that kills scores of
individuals every year.  Many deaths and injuries from CO result from
improperly vented and/or maintained gas  fueled appliances.  If your
home uses natural gas we recommend purchasing and installing a CO
detector on each level of your home.  If you can only afford one
detector, its best placed in a hallway nearest the bedrooms in your
home.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact
us at any time.  We have additional information located at:
