Ever notice how every day of the week ends in "day"? That's a language
smell begging for refactoring. At least Spanish sticks with the crazy
root names.

Anyhoo...

I haven't been to Galois before but this upcoming talk on the 7th
sounds too good to pass up. I'm going to MAX down a bit early, grab
breakfast at the Brunchbox (food cart) a few blocks away and then head
over.

Anybody want to join me for a Westsiders expedition?

I'm going to try to sneak over to this particular Galois meeting as it
does look interesting (and I think Ivan Sutherland is some kind of
Computer Graphics legend, isn't he?)

I've got a quick dentist appointment at 9AM; should be done by 9:30AM.
When/Where do you want to meet up? I'll be pretty close to Sunset
Transit ctr. after my dental appt.

Ivan Sutherland? *The* Ivan Sutherland? "Some kind of computer
graphics legend?" That's like saying Babe Ruth was some kind of
baseball player. ;-)

I've never met a happy clam. In fact, most of them were pretty steamed.

From Planet Haskell:

"Dr. Sutherland received the 1998 Turing Award, for his pioneering
work in the field of computer graphics."

I guess Turing was some kind of electrical engineer. ;-)

Speaking of which, I picked up a copy of The Annotated Turing today and
am anxiously looking forward to giving it a read. Any of you read it, yet?

Some how I managed to not notice that it was *that* Iver Sutherland
despite the fact that I spent a while trying to find out more about this
Asynchronous Research Center that he and others have set up at PSU.
Speaking of which, anyone on the list know anything more about this? I'd
be really curious to find out what they're doing over there.

Might be tight on time unless I jettison breakfast plans. Which I'd be
happy to do if no one else is coming along.

We can meet up at Sunset TC after your appt. I'll get your details off
list.
