Herbal Spring Cleansing For Women

Date: May 5th, 2013

Time: 1-4pm

Price: $60

Materials Fee: $10 

 

Join us for a magical afternoon playing with medicinal plants.  We will learn about several green allies for spring cleansing that we can incorporate into our everyday lives.  In this practical class we will mix some special tea blends, learn how to make our own herbal glycerin tinctures, and create a healing salve from local organic ingredients.  You will get an introduction to herbal medicine making, some basic recipes, and a handful of medicines to initiate your spring cleansing regimen. Young women age 10 and up are welcome.  

(Mother-daughter discount, $90)  Tea and snack included.

 

Mushroom Cultivation

Date:  June 1, 2013

Time: 10am-1pm

Price: $50

Materials Fee:  $10 to inoculate a log with shitake spawn and take it home, $30 to take home one of the pre-inoculated wood chips/sawdust blocks that will be demonstrated

 

Mushrooms - delicious, nutritious, and useful. Although not as easy to grow as plants, many kinds of mushrooms can be grown at home. In this workshop you will learn general information about growing and collecting different kinds of mushrooms, as well as their uses as  food, medicine, and dye. Indoor and outdoor cultivation techniques will be demonstrated, as well as cooking strategies. Mushrooms demonstrated will include shitake, oyster, reishi, and lion's mane. An electric drill is required for this workshop.

 

Natural Building With Superadobe

Date: June 22-23, 29-30

Time: 10am-4pm

Price: $400 for 4 days, $200 for 2 days, $100 to hold your registration (non-refundable with less than 5 days before class)

 

Building with super adobe is possible with a few basic tools where the individual's creativity sets the limit to what can be done. This introductory course will be a hands-on session  which will cover basic uses of super adobe. Over the two weekends we will build a structure start to finish.  Future courses will cover shelter construction.

*Class includes coffee/tea and pastries in the morning, a full lunch, plus 60 feet of bag (to start your own project).
