Subject: September meeting minutes
Westchase Artists Society – September, 2012
The meeting was called to order at the Westchase Swim and Tennis
Center
Minutes read and addition made regarding amount for vendors at Holiday
Market.
Projects:  The box project holding to next month (October) It was
mentioned that it would be nice to get press on the project
Announcements -  Joose won an award at the Carrollwood Cultural Center
show & Vanessa’s Dolphin is in the World of Westchase
Calendar Project – Harve, Dean and Liz need to select photos for the
calendar
5/3 Bank – For artwork at Westchase branch they will set up a table
for 3-D work
October First Friday will be October 5th – Halloween craft idea
September First Friday – Teresa and Vanessa were there and it rained
and didn’t participate
Carrollwood Cultural Center Photography Show – new call to artists –
different rules with this show
5 x 5 at Tampa Museum of Art – Sept 24 & Oct 5 deliver for sale –
proceeds to fund artist’s grants in Hillsborough County – no entry
fees.  This event will be at Art After Dark at the museum – must hang
on a wall and can’t exceed 5” in any direction.  If it doesn’t sell
can donate to Arts Council for fundraising
Teresa will meet with Jane from Energy Insurance.  They are willing to
do artist show on individual basis.  Teresa will take binder to the
meeting to show examples of members’ work.  They are asking for jpeg’s
for examples of artwork 2D for walls only.  They are interested in
showing our artwork in January.
Holiday Market – has grown.  Jenn asking for a small committee – need
PR person to advertise and build excitement – need restaurant
liasson.  We can increase the number of vendors – Special event
particularly if we have music – kid’s activities – Jenn will be
sending out e-mail.  Is it beneficial that it keep growing?  Autism
Speaks will again be the fundraiser recipient.  Questions – silent
auction?  Large piece of art – friend that knows a Buc’s player.
Proceeds to fundraiser.  High School students?  Easier if just one
item donated with ticket sales for raffle.  Keep it simple.
Activities – for the kids – Santa – arts and crafts – bounce house???
Meet Santa that will roam through the crowd?
Harve asked if we would be having a group show.
Mike Whitaker mentioned the idea to have an antique car show or
corvette car show in conjunction with a Westchase Artists art show
perhaps at Aston Gardens.
Our Holiday party – where and what kind of party.  Jenn voted that we
have the party at a restaurant or a home.  Need ambiance.  Susan will
check into location – Stonechase – Grill 54.  We have approximately 20
members + include spouses
Rena – Fall for Art 9/22 at 7pm  at Hello Beautiful Salon – this will
be a show of Rena’s artwork.
Vanessa reported that we have $1,397.84 in the bank account.  And that
we keep getting charged the $3 service charge.
Meeting was adjourned at 7:50
Followed by Amy’s demo showing us how she creates her fabulous cement
sculptures.
