Subject: Looking for a collaborator (or many collaborators)
Hey all,

I am relatively new to Rails (and to web application development in
general), but have been learning fast and hope to continue on this
trajectory. I have a fairly strong and diverse background in
technology, and have a few years experience working in software
development from a programme management perspective (since recently
graduating with degrees in Information Systems/Marketing). I am pretty
much a tech nut, as I am sure a lot of you are.

Anyway, I really want to work on a public-facing web app. In my
current job I work toward the delivery of apps for enterprise clients,
but I see the public web as a new and exciting challenge that I want
to immerse myself in.

I have an idea that I've been working on, but I am starting to hit a
wall in terms of how quickly I can get things done given my constant
need to find new techniques and trial the techniques that I find. It
would be great to get together with someone who is a little more
experienced with Rails who is also looking to build something that
will stand on its own commercially as well as technically. I embrace
the idea of working remotely etc, but it would be cool to meet someone
locally -- because, well, it sounds a lot more fun.

As for the app I am working on now, I'm not particularly attached to
the idea. It isn't exactly a huge money-maker, just something I think
would be relatively popular and would be a great way to learn about
deployment and dealing with a public audience. I am hoping that it
will be more of a pet/passion project as I move on to bigger apps in
the future with a stronger focus on revenue.

So anyway, if anyone thinks that they are interested in getting
together, please let me know.  Your current skill level isn't
particularly important, so long as you love developing software.

Cheers!
Evan
