hi fellow Railers

Summer is almost upon us, the first chirps of the cricket season are here, the ocean is *almost* warm enough to jump in and still expect to have children afterwards,  yet I am leaving this beautiful country.  Though I'm sad about leaving NZ, it is the right decision and I am leaving to be with my long time long distance partner Aomrak, and will be heading off to Thailand on Oct 21.

I have been jobless for a while, but by choice, and leaving a country is a job in itself.  This will be the second time I have moved countries -  it is emotionally difficult to purge your possessions, cull and keep.  Maybe people who do not move should be forced to do it every 6 or 7 years, it is a good exercise :)

My flat lease is up on Monday next week so not much longer...

Current plans are:
- head to Auckland on Tue/Wed (depending on how organised I am) and hopefully before that figure out how to get further north on public transport (yip I am that busy).
- Cycle around for a month.  I have 12 hours on the train to read 2 bicycle touring bikes so they may well influence where I tour, e.g. I might do a circular tour in far north and then take a train down to the mountains and potter round there for a bit.  Original plan was to cycle from Cape Reinga to Wellington.  I'm flexible :)
- Be back in Wellington for a week finalizing shipping/storage, and catching up with friends one last time.

I have absolutely no spare time for a leaving bash this weekend, but the last Saturday I am here (17/10/2009) I will be at the Southern Cross from 4pm onwards (an early-ish start to allow those with kids either inside or outside of them to attend as well).  I expect some beer will be drunk so please feel free to come along and say your goodbyes.

Cheers

Gordon
