Hi eClubbers,
I think I have been lucky in a sense, that I keep avoiding the
winter. Winter is not really my favorite season. Though I do enjoy
staying warm by the fireplace, snuggling up under blankets, and
watching a beautiful snowfall - it is in the Spring and Fall months
when I really love to be outside. This year, my "winter" months are
taking place in Haiti, or as my 6 year old niece likes to call it
"Lovey, not Haiti". Last year, I avoided the huge amounts of snow by
spending 3 months in South America, where it was summer.
No matter what the weather is like, nor what season it is - there
always seem to be some struggles to stay energized and focused. I am
a person that tends to compartmentalize (is that a word?). For
example, I am in a few different leadership positions, both at work
and in some of the philanthropic organizations I am involved in.
Instead of attacking everything on my "to-do" list each night, I try
to focus one night with certain activities like class preparations, or
my P.E.O. communications, while the next night may focus on Rotary, or
reading some professional articles. Now I don't want it to sound like
I am all boring in my life, as I certainly try to mix in fun
activities. That is another part of how I stay energized in the quest
to find balance. Going out to dinner at the United Nations Grill,
trying to get out to the beach, or ride through the countryside, and
for me, it also included communication (mostly Skype) with my family.
In Rotary,
Kristin
