Subject: Multicast socket receive error

Hi all,

I'm trying to set up a cluster on a single multihomed Solaris machine. When starting the second server in the cluster, evrything seems to work fine. There is a message "Joined cluster at <multicast adress>.

After the server has come up completely the log shows the following conflict message:

Thu Nov 23 08:37:21 CET 2000:<I> <ConflictHandler> ConflictStart weblogic.server.ebcluster:weblogic.t3.srvr.T3Srvr (from ebclus...@5398145104263819853S192.168.254.12:[7001,7001,7002,7002,-1])

After this the following error occurs every few seconds:

Thu Nov 23 08:37:31 CET 2000:<E> <MulticastSocket> Multicast socket receive error: java.lang.NullPointerException

The multicasting seems to work fine when I start the MulticastTest-Utility using the same Multicast-address as in the WL-Configuration (239.255.255.1)

We're running WLS 4.52 on Solaris 2.7 using JDK 1.1.8

Anybody got an idea?

Thanks
Andreas

Problem is fixed. I forgot to assign individual server names for each server in the cluster, which causes this problem.

The error message wasn't a good hint to this, but maybe we could have detected it from the conflict-handler message.
