I try to use Webconverger in liveCD, but I don't know how to simply
halt the system (not just with the power button).

I saw the option in the doc to admin with : http://webconverger/halt
or upgrade but it seems that it doesn't work.
So how to simply halt the system ?

Thanks for the answer and thanks a lot for the good wook to
Webconverger.
I discover this liveCD yesterday and I love its !

There is no software way to power down the kiosk. It could be a
security problem, don't you think?

Anyway, every machine should have a physical power button available,
if it was intended to shut down. :)

Kind regards,

OK, I understand.

But, I supposed that this function existed.

Thanks a lot.

My "little" workaround to halt 12 USB-webconverger-systems without
running through the whole area:

01) added package ssh to package-list
02) modified iptables pre-settings to accept my ssh-port
03) recompiled webconverger
04) unpacked the squashfs-image
05) modified /etc/ssh/sshd_config
a) changed port to non standard
b) denied root login
c) denied password authentication
d) allowed RSA authentication
06) generated RSA-key for user webc
07) gave webc an password (otherwise sudo is very tricky)
08) repacked the squash-fs image
09) moved my filesystem.squashfs to usb-stick/live/
10) deleted install-options from syslinux/live.cfg
11) developed a script that halts all webconverger-systems

Hope this helps. ;)

Maybe I could develop a feature whereby a ssh pub key is downloaded from:

$HOMEPAGE/ssh.pub

And then whoever has the private part to that key could login as root
to those machines and admin them.

Need to think if this is a bad idea.

Hmmm,
an automatic download from a website?

The reason why I solved it with an key-file is because I´m lazy.
Password typing is really not what I want. ;)
I think it would be enough to permit password authentication without
downloading a key.

Generally I don´t permit root-login via ssh. Sudo works fine with my
kind of setup. Otherwise the root-login doesn´t bring up this ugly
password question.
