I have java loaded in a build from the git tree from late last week
and I'm having some difficulty getting it to take keyboard inputs. I
loaded wmname in the image and have it run 'wmname LG3D &' in the /etc/
X11/xinit/xinitrc so that java applets will display correctly in DWM.
Unfortunately, I am unable to get it to take any keyboard input. I
have tried to change my $LANG variable from en_US.UTF-8 to UTF-8 by
setting the boot line to contain locale=UTF-8 but when I check the
booted system it still shows en_US.UTF-8. Does anyone have any
suggestions on fixing this? Mouse input works just fine.

Hello again Jared,

I hope you have a great reason for using Java instead of Web technologies. :P

Have you tried the `export AWT_TOOLKIT=MToolkit` trick?

I probably should update dwm to 6.0 from 5.8.2 sometime soon. :}

Kai,

There is no good reason to be using java. Unfortunately, in this
case, it isn't my call. I have not tried the AWT_TOOLKIT trick this
time around but according to that link it is only used to fix the
drawing of gray windows/boxes. Wmname fixed that for me already so
there aren't any gray windows/boxes being displayed. As I have had
more time to test it I am finding that maybe it's just one small
section of the java application that's not accepting any keyboard
input. Everything else in this particular java application is
working. I think I can live with that for now. If I figure it out
I'll reply here in case someone else down the road is having the same
problem.

Thanks for taking the time to reply,
Jared
