I have a web kiosk at a business to give access to (primarily) our
website. I want to be able to have a screensaver with pictures of our
products. Is there some simple way to do this that I don't know about
'cause I'm a n00b?

AFAIK there is no event fired by the browser to detect idleness. This sucks. :)

Perhaps I can modify Webconverger to point to a different homepage if
it's detected idleness with the kioskresetstation script.

Currently by default Webconverger will just blank after 10 minutes.

At least it's somewhat environmentally friendly. :-)

Wouldn't an AJAXy slideshow as startpage do the trick? After the user has used the browser the kioskresetstation option could bring it back to the slideshow.

Yes, good idea! And when the AJAXy slide show is interrupted, then the
user can proceed to surf as usual. :-)

Hi guys,

I spent some time investigating how to do a "Web screensaver" and put
the code and thoughts into:
https://github.com/Webconverger/Screensaver/

I think writing a good one would require fairly good Web skills, and
judging how hard it is for some people to put a bg.png in the right
place... http://webconverger.org/artwork I'm not confident people will
make use of the code. ;)

Perhaps I'll write a service for folks to upload 5 or so PNGs, and
then do an attractor loop for their customisation. All the customiser
would need to do is add a script src= line, or maybe I can inject it
via the extension... Hmmm, sounds a little dodgy for cross site
attacks, but I've seen worse.

WDYT?

King regards,
