Hello,
First of all, sorry for my poor english !
I'm french and I try to use your wonderfull tool on thinstation
(NeoWare CA15 : http://parkytowers.me.uk/thin/neoware/CA15/index.shtml).
The purpose is to deliver free access to thinstation for web business
only to my students, like see their planning, ... You webconverger is
the perfect way to do that !!
I made an USB drive the way you mentioned it and boot on it !
Everything works perfectly ! BUT, the keyboard is in "qwerty", the
homepage doesn't fit the one I want to use...
"No problem" I said : I pressed tab on boot menu and wrote "locales=fr
keyboard-layout=fr homage=theoneiwant" (with azerty keyboard but
qwerty writing, it was a piece of cake ;-)). Result : perfectly
operational !
Now, I would like to set those options directly onto the usb drive so
I won't have to write it every time I need to restart the system.
There is the problem : I can't find a way to do that ! With my windows
system : the usb drive is nothing but unreachable. With my ubuntu 11.0
live cd : the usb drive is readable but read-only and I don't know
enough of linux systems to modify anything that isn't obvious...
Could you please help me with that ?
bonus question : The usb drive seems to be a little slow on my station
so if you had a way to quicken up the system, I would be pleased to
know it !

Startup slowlyness isn't very relevant, but when I wrote something
like a mail or else, characters don't display very quickly... Not
unusable, but if it may be improve, it would be nice...
I tried the iso modification, but can't succeed to boot on it...
I use ultra iso to edit the iso file (11.0) I modified the "live" file
with the paramaters I wanted, but when I wrote the usb drive and then
boot on it, it doesn't boot and windows loads instead.
I tried
- 11.0 = works fine
- 11.2 = works fine
- 11.0 modified = doesn't work
Maybe UltraISO isn't a good way to edit the iso file ?

There is a known performance problem with nvidia based video cards. I do have a fix and I just need to merge it in. Sorry guys, I've been absurdly busy.
Other performance gains could be achieved by moving off the default (works everywhere) 486 kernel.

One of the reasons there is a customisation service http://webconverger.com/buy is that ISO modification is non-trivial, mainly due to the fact we use iso-hybrid images (I think).
http://webconverger.org/develop is the guide if you want to build your own ISO. There are some shortcuts, but you need to be comfortable in Linux to do it. Anyway, I'd rather you support the Webconverger business by paying for a customisation since it will help maintain this distro and make it even better.

Maybe you could publish some 686 images for testing, parallel to normal builds? Last time you tried, it failed on machines that shouldn't have been a problem, so things might be fixed by now.
