- Installing web2py as a windows service using the windows exe is not
implemented yet, right?

- I usually build the more complex databases via a graphic tool where
I can easily check the relations and have a clear print of the tables
involved: such a tool has an export facility to create tables and
relations straight to MySql server and I would be tempted to try
auto.py to build the web2py model. Apart from the relations issue that
I will have to code by hand, are there any other things to care about?

It is there too except that I have not tested it because I do not use

I've not test web2py.exe yet, but I think it may cannot supports that.
Because I researched the win service teck, and pythoncom will register
a class, so if you use web2py.exe, it may cannot get the class file
and run.

So I think you should use source version now. I have no clue about how
to make a zipped python exe file into a windows service yet.

yes I have already tested the source version successfully but this
time I had to deploy an application on the customer's windows machine
so having the service would have been useful but no matter, thank you

If you figure it out, let us know. It would be great if you could
share with us a screen shot and a description of the app. We could
start building a database of projects made with web2py. The more
publicity, the better for everybody.

it is a small app to help designers to convert excel sheets in XML so
that they can automatise catalogue creation in Indesign: we are
revisiting the interface but then I will be pleased to give you some
screenshots and notes about it.
