It's official ... The next WCRC tourney is going to be BIG - The UC Santa Cruz - Surf & Slam! - Sat & Sun, April 25 & 26 - Yes, TWO DAYS!! - Both Fun & Games
And, we also have "Possibilities" ... Saturday night ... - Beach BBQ / bonfire - Boardwalk roller coaster, rides & games
Circulate and talk about this with the other players ... Let's get some input on format ...
- First, who / how many can play both days? I'm going to work on over night stay options and costs.
- Use both days for our tourney? ... All matches are full length matches, with the final rounds being played the first half of Sunday, then other racquetball the rest of Sunday ... Doubles, misc singles matches ...
OR
- Use the first day for our "typical" one day tourney, then do something else on Sunday? ... A full day of doubles, or open up the tourney to more players - more students, recent grads, post-docs, riff-raff ... Depending on the number of players, might be single or double elimination.
Due to popular demand, the WCRC Santa Cruz Surf & Slam has been changed to the next weekend after the original date ... The new date is:
- Sat & Sun, May 2nd & 3rd

I think this will be a great tourney. Im looking forward to it. i think that we should let it be open to post-grad players too. doubles would def be nice since that has never been done before. just throwing my thoughts out there. Thanks

I should have hotel info and costs early next week. Please let me know if you're looking for lodging, and how many would be in your group.
There's no camping on the beaches in town that we will go to, but I think there's a beach about 30 minutes south of Santa Cruz that allows camping; I'll find out. "Anything goes" (at your own risk) about 30 minutes north of Santa Cruz. And, there are several camp ground type places near town and campus where you can camp in the redwoods. I'll have some info on that as well next week.

I need your team rosters asap ... Monday night at the very latest.
The tourney will be structured as follows ...
Saturday:
- Full length matches (to 15 points).
- We will likely end the day around 4 to 5 pm
Sunday:
- Finals rounds in the morning
- Doubles in the afternoon
- If you don't have enough people for a doubles team, or have "extra" people,
we will "build" teams ... So, everyone will be on a doubles team.
Costs
- You will need to be a USRA member - $25, you can pay at the tourney.
- The tourney fee will be $25. This provides food for both days,
sanctioning, racquetballs, etc.
Saturday night ...
- You're "on your own" for dinner ... I'll send out some options,
and folks can collaborate on where to go as groups.
- The rides at the Beach Boardwalk are open until 8pm
- Folks will probably go to a nearby beach for a bonfire

DIRECTIONS
- At some point you will take 880 / 17 South - Santa Cruz
- Hwy 17 is a winding mountain highway ... Take your time
- After the highway generally flattens out, you will pass through Scotts Valley, then you will see signs for Highway 1 North / Half Moon Bay (vear right).
- You will pass through two traffic lights. After the second traffic light, you will take an immediate right hand turn onto Highland Ave
- Turn left onto High St.
- Turn right at the "base of campus" - Glen Coolidge Dr. The base of campus is pretty low key.
- Then, follow the maps ...
