Subject: REMINDER: There is a Florida ADVANCE Dstar Forum taking place on
Sept 13th (SAT.) in Polk County
ADVANCED DSTAR TRAINING FORUM SET FOR
SEPTEMBER 13TH
7 AM /8 AM TO EVENING TIME (sometime around 4 or 5, later if needed)
We have a date set, right now I have 3 emails confirming coming,
I know the Ft Lauderdale guys are coming as is Paul KJ4G, I keep
fouling up Greg Sarratt's email some how (Paul please forward if you
could please)
Plans are for a full day of talks and demo's and technical support
from some local Internet folks who have there hands on Dstar, who
can tell you what KJ4ACN can do, what it COULD DO, and what their
system is DOING. This along with ways to protect your node, and
a few other things that I will pass at the moment from saying
in this email. They are professionals at what they do here...
I will talk about various ways to enhance your system, voice announcements,
behind the scenes stuff, some about the Dstar APRS stuff (pro and con),
and what we have found while playing with the 23cm high speed data side
of the system. I will also show some of the newer owners how to command
your system remotely, and what you can use to get the most out of your
gateway, and a little bit on the Florida Dstar Digital Voice Net, that takes
place weekly on Wednesday nights at 9pm / 8 central.
Of the 5 Fla. DSTAR TECH SUPPORT MEMBERS, one will be out of town,
but never less, the plan is to get together as one big group of admins,
and assist each other out on building a state wide DSTAR network.
EVEN IF THIS MEANS BREAKING AWAY from the US TRUST SERVER, there are
other things in the pot that will not be talked about in this email,
only at the meeting.
Most important of all is getting your system on the air, how to obtain
help getting on the air, and how to work with that group called FRC,
and for the 23cm side of data, that will probably fall under FADCA
I am asking Dana Rodakis to join us so we can hear from him personally
what FRC is going to do, on an UNOFFICIAL CAPACITY THAT IS....
SO, NO, we can not jump him personally on District questions, we can
ask how the band plan is going to be adjusted for DSTAR operations thou...
IF Dana can make it, he is there to learn more then anything else, please
submit your FRC district question via the website....
There are a lot of insights to brought to all of us, as well as how we
as a team, can keep support for our $$$$$ systems, and internet access.
We wont tell you HOW TO, but encourage some ideas to you.
This Advance Dstar Forum is mainly for system Admins, however, there is
also room enough to talk about using the system to it's fullest with your
users too, those that want to learn more about the setups and so on, this
would be a great gathering.
PLEASE RSVP HEAD COUNTS so I can make plans for adequate space and
materials,
by Sept 3rd.
Thanks for your time on this. I hope this turns out to be successful to all
of us as a group!
