To update everyone on this issue as it is something we have seen before.
Basically, this problem (DStarMonitor "quits reporting to dstarusers.org"
without error) is indicative of a misconfigured gateway and/or RP2C. The cause
is the RP2C streaming 110 byte DD packets to the gateway causing pcap to get
overrun and quitting the feed to DStarMonitor. It can also appear that update
timestamps start to get way off due to this overrun (DStarMonitor is unable to
keep up with the constant stream of short packets that have to update the remote
database each time). This can also cause audio issues for users using the
gateway (not DPlus, probably) and certainly will cause DD connectivity issues.
D-PRS appears unaffected because it uses a different pcap feed which excludes DD
packets.
This is what we found the resolution is from before:
1)
Do not place the "S" ID in the gateway "Personal Information" for the
gateway/repeater callsign. If it is there, delete it. The messages generated in
the gateway log about the "S" station not being registered are informational,
not error messages.
2) "Use Local Server" in the RP2C configuration -must
not- be checked. This setting is mutually exclusive of "Use Gateway" and "Use
Gateway" -must- be checked.
3) "Default Gateway" in the RP2C
configuration (in the "Communication Settings" box) must be undefined
(0.0.0.0).
4) The RP2C and the gateway -must- be configured to use port
20000 on each end.
5) The RP2C -must- be configured as controller
zero.
6) Do not share the connection between the RP2C and the gateway. If
you do, this DD stream could be in response to extraneous arp queries, etc. (not
verified but better safe than sorry.
The sysops that have done this have
eliminated the extraneous DD packets going to/from their
controllers.
Right now, I see K3PDR having this problem. GB7DB was also
having the problem up to about 30 minutes ago. It may still be having the
problem but DStarMonitor may not be updating anymore.
