How does the UE calculate SFN?

The UE uses P-SCH and S-SCH to know the slot boundary, frame bounday
and the scrambling code group of a cell. By trying out, different
scrambling codes in that group, it is able to find the scrambling code
to listen to CPICH as well as PCCPCH. Now on PCCPCH, the MIB is sent
every 8 frames. So the UE knows when SFN mod 8 is 0, there is a MIB

Hi all,
This is a query regarding the MIMO transmission in WCDMA downlink. The
release 6 standard has transmit diversity scheme on the downlink. i.e two
antenna at base-station. In that scenario. Does the BS indicate the presence
of STTD transmission to all the users ?? Because there is a kind of
interference which the SISO users will face.

See a previous post.. Book on LTE and WCDMA by Holma is a good one to
begin..

Also recently book on HSDPA and LTE was published by Erik.

Hi Ashwini,

Firstly, WCDMA and LTE are different.
* WCDMA is has same access scheme i.e both we have DS-CDMA based
multiple access

LTE has derived the HSPDA technology from Release 7 and from Release
8 of 3gpp, the PHYSICAL layer mapping has been changed to avoid
multiuser-interference at high data rate transmission.

I have a query regarding the CQI fed back to the base-station from the
mobile for HSDPA. Say there are N users in the cell and U<N users are
connected to the HSDPA service. We know that the base-station does not
transmit packets to all the U users every time but schedules/selects

But what happens when multiple UEs use the same TTI to initiate the
call. I know it wokrs as slotted ALOHA. What if 16 UEs try to set up
RRC connection at the same time ?
