Jim,

Seems OK. A bit boring though blazing back on 1488 for 12-13 miles??
What if we took the Dog Route back (149 spur, Dobbin Huffsmith to
Hardin Store to 2978 back toward Exxon) then could cut over (before
Walmart/Woodlands Pkwy) to Branch Crossing and to east/then north to
Alden Bridge (cross Research Forest) to Kuykendahl and go N to 1488
and back? Just an idea...not as "fast" but away from traffic...not
that 1488 is bad...a nice wide shoulder but not very "scenic". wonder
how many miles it adds???

On your route...I guess only 1 stop?? as first realistic one is
Richards at Mile 44....should be OK with mild temps projected.

If we change last part...could always top up at station on Dobbin
Huffmith (Diamond Shamrock?).

What happened to you? We had a good group today of 9 starters, 3 cut
short ( Kris and Moritzio(?) per plan and Craig unplanned-heard you
were struggling a bit today?). The remaining 6 (JJ, Jim, Mark C,
Jesse, Seth (a new joiner on a sweet Bianchi steel bike!) and myself
blazed into Willis (44 mi) with a just over 19 mph ave.....not bad for
all the headwind. 1486 south was awesome...I saw speeds near 30 for
long stretches. Then after routing around Magnolia we took the direct
route back on1488. Seth cut the corner on 1486 at Jackson...we caught
him up again at 1488/2978. Finished with 85 mi and an average just
over 20 mph. 4 of us hit Los Cucos after for some well deserved
TexMex and a brew.

Excellent ride today. 9 riders showed up at Randall's parking lot this
morning. Greg, Jesse, Craig, MarkC, Kris, jj, a first time rider with us
Seth, another gentleman's name I have forgotten, and myself.
With the head wind, the ride north was a good work out. One rider left us
at the intersection of FM2854 and Rabons Chapel. Kris had to cut the ride
short, so he left us at the FM149 and FM1097 intersection. Not sure where
Craig left us. The remaining six riders headed north to Richards for our
first and what turned out to be our last break. After leaving Richards we
caught a tail wind and made quick work of FM1486 to the FM1774 intersection.
Seth decided to turn on Jackson road and head back via Jackson, FM149 to
FM1488 I showed a max speed of 32.2 mph for the ride. Had to be somewhere
on FM1486. Went the back way through Magnolia back to FM1488. We all
decided to take FM1488 all the way back to the Randall's parking lot.

Total miles 85
Average speed 20.1 mph
Time on bike 4:14
total ascent 2222

The ride was very spirited but safe. There were no issues that I am aware
of.

I think we hit 32 on Osborne Road? That was my favorite bit of the ride. I showed 85 miles and average 19.3 back to my house which is awesome numbers for me.
