Greg,

I will be out of town until April 8. Have a family thing on April 27. Lake
Livingston the following weekend sounds good to me.

Hope to join y'all on April 6th for the Cold Spring hill workout, as that is
where I would probably be training anyway, for the upcoming Cold Spring road
race on May 4th, the same Saturday you have scheduled the Lake Livingston
Century...you may want to re-schedule, as the road races will have 156/224
loop engorged with racers and vehicles, in addition to local and lake
traffic. I'm am sure they will still be in progress as there are two waves
of races...the first wave starting about 8 am and the second wave starting
around 11 am. I'll pass on the mountain bike gig at Double Lake, as I don't
have a mountain bike anymore.

Hi Greg,

1)  Tracy and I are going out to Kerrville this upcoming weekend for the Easter Hill Country Tour, so I will be out on Mar30.

2)  I should be available for the Saturday April 6th Coldspring ride.  Are you thinking road and Mtn bike both ?
Multiple loops of the Mtn bike course could be a good workout.  We could do the Hills on a Mtn bike first ?
Don't know how many others have Mtn bikes ?
Houston Gran Fondo is on Sunday the 7th?, which we are considering.

3)  Not sure of the ride to Austin in one day on the 13th?  We will be riding with Tom and others to Austin the following Saturday on the 21st.

I see from your map of the Houston-Austin route that it differs from the usual approach to Austin along 949.  Is this the new MS150 route ?

I'm definately up for a Lake Livingston Loop later on whenever we can fit it in.

After the IM on May 18th, I hope to to ride more often.

Mike,

On the Austin approach...I looked at the "recommended" bike route into
Austin (activated designated bike routes per Google maps)...so figured
maybe best avoid 969 and come in from the south.... but could do the
MS route way as well. How has it been in the past to come in on 969/
MLK outside of the MS 150?

As for Coldspring was thinking of doing 3-4 x 16mi out and backs on
224 (between 156 on each end) then lunch outside of Double Lakes at
the Lone Star Smoking Gun BBQ and then a couple loops on the MTbs
after...

Greg,

We have always ridden on 969 into Austin. A few places where the shoulder thins temporarily, but no major issues. Its pretty quiet till close to Austin. I have never ridden the other approach.

I'm thinking that after 3-4 times up & down the cold spring hills and then BBQ, I will not be motivated to mtn bike afterwards.

Hi Greg,
I will miss April 6 due to family stuff.  Thinking about a ride in the Greenville, SC area on May 4 but nothing definite yet.  Would be nice to get in a TdH ride in Austin before it get too hot.
Ciao,
Mike A
