Whether you live, work, shop, dine or travel along the Washtenaw Avenue Corridor, the Re-Imagine Washtenaw Project needs your input!
A series of public workshops are scheduled for the last week of May to get public feedback on proposed future road configuration alternatives, such as adding bike lanes, sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, streetscapes, buffers, and transit stops along the corridor.
The workshop schedule is as follows:
- Tuesday, May 28 6-8pm, Washtenaw County Service Center, 4135 Washtenaw Ave, LRC, Room A
- Wednesday, May 29 8-10am, Washtenaw County Service Center, 4135 Washtenaw Ave, LRC, Room A
- Thursday, May 30 7-9pm, Carpenter Elementary School, 4250 Central Blvd., Multi-Purpose Room
- Friday, May 31, 2-4pm EMU McKenny Union, Cross St, Room 330
The issues being considered are the creation a safer and more inviting pedestrian environment, accommodating bicyclists, meeting transit needs, addressing traffic congestion and land use, and creating a Sense-of-Place. Master Plans, Zoning Ordinances and Design Guidelines are being updated to reflect these considerations.

Officials from the City of Ann Arbor, Pittsfield Township, Ypsilanti Township and the City of Ypsilanti are working with urban design and transportation consultants. Additional partners are supporting this effort include the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority, Michigan Department of Transportation, Washtenaw County, Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Regional Chamber of Commerce, and the Washtenaw Area Transportation Study.
