Hi, friends and fellow radio people,
If you are or will be in New England, please save the date: THURSDAY, MAY 3rd at The Outer Space in Hamden, CT (just north of New Haven). My band, ROB CARLSON & BENEFIT STREET is doing a rare weekday gig, and I’d love to see a bunch of my radio friends there. It will be a really nice evening of original folk/rock/country/Americana music mixed with some comedy.
Many of you know me from our time together at WBRU. After leaving Providence, I spent over two decades in Connecticut radio on WHCN, WDRC, WCCC, WPLR, Country 92.5 and WWUH. Our leader, singer/songwriter Rob Carlson (Brown ’70), spent a dozen years with Modern Man, the folk-comedy trio, which included David Buskin ’65. You may also remember Carlson & Gailmor, Rob’s 1976 duet album on Polydor which has become a cult classic. I play keyboards in the group, along with string wizard Vin Pasternak (Folks Together) and drummer Sam Carlson (Ports of Spain, Winter White). Trust me, I’m really proud of this band – or I wouldn’t be in it.
Hear our new CD at: http://robcarlsonandbenefitstreet.bandcamp.com. If you’re on the air and your station might play our music, I’d be happy to send a CD if you don’t have one already.
