Good evening WSS,
WatSat, the micro-satellite team at the University of Waterloo and a sub-team of the Waterloo Space Society, needs to have some of its members receive their amateur radio licenses so that we can operate in the specific frequency ranges allocated by Industry Canada. In addition to WatSat, several WSS members have expressed interest in getting their licenses so I am opening it up to the entire WSS group.
We will be taking the amateur radio course through the Kitchener Waterloo Amateur Radio Club (
http://www.kwarc.org/). The next round of classes will begin in April 2012 and will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30pm to 10:00pm for 10 weeks and will take place at the Stirling Ave Mennonite Church (57 Stirling Ave North) in Kitchener, Ontario. The course itself is $25 (which includes a year's membership with the KWARC) and the Study Guide is $50. More information about the course can be found at:
http://www.kwarc.org/kw-class.html.
If the timing of the course is inconvenient (for most university students it starts during exams and continues into the following term) we could potentially offer some study sessions over the Winter term at the University of Waterloo to help people prepare for the exam.
Please fill out the form below by Sunday November 13 (by midnight) if you are interested in getting your amateur radio licence. Feel free to email me personally if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Peter Kruzlics
