Subject: You thought quitting smoking was hard? Try using a toilet! at the 6th World Water Forum, Marseilles

Dear All,

For those attending the 6th World Water Forum in Marseilles next month (and without wanting to stir up the debate on whether to attend or not to attend again), I would like to point out an interesting side event that will be organized by the recently established Sanitation and Hygiene Global Community of Practice. See the message hereunder. In case you're not interested in what's going on in Marseille but you might be interested to join the CoP discussion on behavior change or find out more about the CoP, please feel free to contact my colleague Pippa Scott - details hereunder.

Best regards,
Carolien van der Voorden

You thought quitting smoking was hard? Try using a toilet!
14th March 2012 - 19:15 to 20:15 - Room: Sormiou PC 12, Palais des congrès.

This event is convened by the Community of Practice for Sanitation and Hygiene, with support from WSSCC and facilitated by COMBI Behavior and Social Intervention expert Asiya OduglehKolev of the World Health Organization.

This event is in response to the demand of sanitation and hygiene practitioners that a wider appreciation is needed of behavioral change - Is the sanitation and hygiene sector focusing too narrowly on handwashing and fixed-point defecation where there are wider lessons on changing behaviors? What can we learn from other sectors? And, what are the behaviors that sanitation and hygiene practitioners should be looking to impact?

Please join this event for an honest debate about people's every day habits and choices and the implications for achieving real progress in improving sanitation and hygiene.

This events falls under the wider scope of the global community of practice for sanitation and hygiene -and intends to be one of a series of events under the behavioral change theme and others. Learning points from this event will be shared with the wider community.

Details can be found in the attached flyer and online at www.worldwaterforum6.org<http://www.worldwaterforum6.org>

Please share with your networks and colleagues. Places may be limited - if possible please notify your attendance to shcopad...@wsscc.org<mailto:shcopad...@wsscc.org>.

With best wishes,
Pippa Scott
