Dear Barbara,

Your mention of whales in Report #1 & #2 caught my interest. Here is my part of my prayer during my Tsunami Prayer time:

Whales and Jonah Prayers

I received your email calling us to pray--and although I could not travel to the coast--I sat down with a map of the west coast and prayed.

During my prayer, I was reminded of the story of Jonah who warned the city of Nineveh of the coming disaster.

Then, as I prayed, I pictured whales all along the coast from San Diego to Alaska depositing Jonahs along the shores where there were big Nineveh cities. Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, etc. It was as if the Lord was agreeing that there is a coming disaster and that he was sending Jonahs to warn them.

I even drew the whales on the map. "Yes Lord, deposit your Jonahs along the coast. Please warn the West Coast Ninevites of the coming disaster. Holy Spirit, convict us of our sin and soften our hearts to repentance."

I read Barbara Steely's May Day prayer reports with surprised interest when I read that several people saw whales!

I love it when the Holy Spirit seems to coordinate our prayers and experiences. I understand this to be a confirmation that God is leading us in prayer.
