mujay tou registration link mil gaya hay...aur mazay ki baat yeh hay kay main nay IT walon kou koi mail b nahee ki...khud hee mil gaya..now i will enjoy origional windows ... non-origional main tou koee naa koee prpblem hee rehti hay

aur kisi kou mila kiya?

Wow... great move by HEC and microsoft to provide registered microsoft products to students.

Today I installed Windows 7.

It is 100% genuine and registered :D

had i bought it from market, it would have been quite expensive (the genuine version). But from the site (mentioned below in LMS announcement), I could able to download it free of cost...

Virtual university has nothing to do with it... virtual university has its own website .. if virtual university would want to send this email then it could have send from it_su...@vu.edu.pk  

 its totally a fake email , just a spam email ...  i don't believe that its an original version .. it can be crack for windows 7 or Torrent version but it can not be original CD with original key ... its 

impossible 

just imagine that Microsoft has not released completely free window XP yet and you are expecting Windows 7 (which actually costs 200$) to get free version from microsoft ?

I think you've not received this email yet from VU (or microsoft), probably that is why you are saying this.

At first I also thought it to be a fake email, but when I rechecked it, I found it genunie.

Read announcement regarding this on LMS dated August 18, 2011:

Dear Students and Faculty Members, Microsoft in collaboration with HEC is providing free software to the academic community under its Microsoft Developers Network Academic Alliance (MSDN AA) program. National Student Software Accessibility (NSSA) Portals have been created for each university for this purpose. Each student and faculty member will soon receive an e-mail message from Microsoft to create account on this portal. This account will be used to download free Microsoft software from the portal.  Click the image “Microsoft for All” on VU homepage ( http://www.vu.edu.pk ) to visit the VU portal.

I've downloaded Windows 7 professional from that website and currently using it. They also give you windows 7 key to activate it.

And even after entering product key, windows need to be activated online. When I did so, it was successfully activated without any kind of issue from microsoft that key was fake or cracked.

And even if we suppose the key was cracked and for a time being it got activated, windows would not allow you to install updates. I successfully installed windows 7 pro service pack 1 from windows update.

This is 100% genunie copy of windows 7 pro. And I was surprised and shocked as well, that they are providing us free copy of windows 7 pro which costs around 11000 PKR.

But I would request my fellow students to be careful, and do not follow any fake link, which might hack your system.

The downloaded file is an image which can be written on a CD / DVD through any CD writing software like windows default software or Nero. Use the option write image to disc option and this CD will convert to a boot able CD in case the software is Windows of any type. Other software will be shown in executable format setup file.

just go to www.vu.edu.pk ... and you will see a banner of "microsoft for all" ... just click that banner and 

then register your self on that link and download your desired microsoft software
