Harris Bay at the southern end of Lake George is sweet but relatively small. I was hoping to be able to skate all the ice to Long Island, but at the enjd of the bay, even with Assembly Point, the ice thickness drops to an inch at most.
Really nice skate for locals.

Coming from Rte 22A then worked our way to lake.
Larrabee Point- found crusty ice, nope
Lapham- had fun adventure on some smooth-as-silk ice and shallow shell ice. About 50-50. we skated about 9 miles. Southward stopped at caution sign for submerged power where there was pressure ridge. And north to next bay where the shell ice was getting bad.
There is pressure ridge with water just north of put-in from Laphm running from east shore.
Shell ice was easy to see and ok to skate through. But who knows how it will be tomorrow.
(photo 2 shows the shell, but it also blanketed some areas).
South Bay (Dresden/Whitehall) and other side of Rte 22
Observed from road: About 10 fishing shanties on the ice. I skated there a month ago on gorgeous new ice. Now there are big shiny swaths but also rougher looking. Still, it's a pretty spot with only a few small cabins. The other side of the road looked promising also.
Canal
Crusty- nope
