Please note: if you are using the 25x nvidia drivers with a gtx 260 on any
1.8.0.x series Xorg-x11 server you will not get all of the extensions. You
have to run 1.8.2 series Xorg or 1.9.0 if you can build it from git.

That is not expected. All GPUs in the last many years support 3D
texturing. Where we most run into trouble with this is in the
installed drivers. Often people are running VisIt with open source
drivers, and that can fail. Our advice is generally to use the
commercial drivers.

Were all of your account invalid today, or just some? I haven't seen
this behavior before, but we'd like to hear about it to see if there's
an issue. More often, someone tries the incorrect PIN several times
which will automatically lock out an account.

We had some similar trouble with Visit. The mdserver initialization failed
because the Windows Firewall on our lab machines was blocking it.

At Clemson, we also had some trouble with our Kraken accounts (even the

Yes, that will work. However, you should be aware that this will also
invert your volumes. So if you were doing volume queries and other
integrations that are based on space, you're going to get inverted
values. I also don't know what volume rendering would do to an
inverted volume.

Unfortunately, I don't have a good answer for you. It's obviously a
problem with dynamic loading. VisIt has a bazillion shared libraries
that it loads when launching. I can say that we often run on 10.5.8
systems, so I don't know what the issue might be. However, it's going
to be much more complex than we can get into in time for the class. I

I know that VMD will do what you want. If your MD data is in a PDB format (not XYZ), you can both replicate and move your central coordinates. Email me offline if you'd like to know how.

Just found that having the transform > transform z-scale on -0.01
instead of 0.01 will flip the Z axis, so depth is shown as depth

I installed visit by saying "no" to everything...
and I'm able to run visit,
for installation i used:
$ sudo ./visit-install2_0_1 2.0.1 linux-x86_64-ubuntu8 /usr/local/visit
("no" to all)
to run:
$ cd /usr/local/visit/bin
$ ./visit
Even I'm using NVIDIA proprietary drivers on Ubuntu 10.04.

I have visit on ubuntu 10.04 as well (without any fancy hardware...4 year
old laptop).
I installed in /opt/visit. Where ever you installed, you should see at
least two directories: 2.0.1 and bin. In 2.0.1, you should see another two
directories: bin and linux-intel. In that linux-intel directory is the gui
